In this video I will show how to make a fun tensegrity structure lawn art that is held up by tension that makes it look like it is floating on strings. It was a simple project that you should be able to do . It makes a great conversation starter if you want your conversations to be about tension, torque, tensegrity, and balanced forces in equilibrium. This project could be easily modified into a tensegrity table and I might do that in the future by using chain instead of string and reinforcing the middle column.
I want to see what you can build with this idea too. I challenge you to build one yourself and let me know how it goes in the comments below.
It's a beautiful day to learn! I want to help you learn math and science that you didn't know before.

@therenaydin Twitter: extremely restrictive character limit fosters environment suitable for people with extremely short attention spans, plus the whole thing is like a super public message board with anyone and everyone chiming in with an opinion, no matter what the subject is, or just how knowledgeable they are about it. Instagram: Exclusively specifically cropped pictures, and the brief, slightly related comments they garner. Most accounts are filled with boring, self-aggrandizing content. This is especially true of so-called 'influencers' Tiktok: Brief, albeit amusing videos. Good for short term amusement, but not well suited for any sort of discussion, or deep dives on stuff. RU-vid: Videos promoted by algorithm for maximizing ad revenue for Google. Comments sections typically filled up with trolls looking to generate outrage 'for the lulz.' Very little discussion to be had, except perhaps on niche videos with smaller view counts. Facebook manages to avoid most of these problems most of the time, but is very much not above reproach, and has downsides of its own. Facebook alternatives: MeWe Minds-dot-com Parler None of the above are especially wonderful, but have their own merits.

i made a small prototype my self using cardboard, and thought if we added weight to one side, we would only need to attatch strings to the opposite side of the weights, making a good idea for a chair as well, and instead of fastening chains into the wood, put them over the wood with little slots. Thats would make for a PORTABLE TABLE/CHAIR

Nobody ever seems to mention how to decide where to place the two chains/ropes/strings that connect the 'legs' (or whatever they are called). Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they have to be exactly halfway across the structure, otherwise the top and bottom half will not line up properly. In some things I think that is a good idea but not so much with this table.

@Losovox
@Losovox 2 года назад
They just need some tension. The longer the middle string, the lower the table. Depends on how high you want the table. From there you just need to put the outer strings on at equal lengths to each other, so they all have equal tension

No matter which direction it tries to collapse, the opposite side or short chains would have to stretch. Those chains are not going to stretch so unless they break, the structure holds up. In other words, it's magic.

The dimensions are not essential to the structure. All you need to do is decide what dimensions YOU want and start constructing the item to suit yourself. Just be sure the two shorter chains are halfway across the structure so the top and bottom line up with each other, unless you don't want them lined up with each other.
