Oh boy! You hit the nail on the head! I think of it as 'Inferiority Syndrome'...I've been painting for 40 years and of all the paintings I've done (despite others raving about them LOL) maybe I 'approve' of a dozen...that little voice telling me 'hey, you can do better than this' taking away the enjoyment of painting...but at 70 years old, I still carry on! Thanks for a great video that has proven I'm not alone...
I'm 48 really started getting back into my art over the past couple of years. Just got a $500 commission from one of my pool customers! I'm into comic book-style, I love doing horror art and various other stuff like that. Man, your words are so true here. Talk about years of beating myself up about not being as good as my heroes, and telling myself I'm a fake.. just like you say here I ever learn to turn it off.. also for anyone having struggles within themselves two books that really helped me out... The war of art by Steven pressfield and the rogue artist survival guide by Raffi Perez.. thank you so much for your words of encouragement! My goal is the second half of my life is just to live a creative life..
