It seems the folks at Horizon Hobby did something right by having ARRMA and Team Losi Racing collaborate on the Tuned Typhon release. This release certainly has the E-buggy community talking from bashers to racers. Those who bash and like quality products are excited about this release. Bashers looking to become racers are excited about this release. And racers are excited about this release because now there is another car available in the class which keeps the racing class healthy. The buggy is looking promising and impressive! But there is some misinformation going around too. So Greg quickly touches on that in this video and then takes the buggy out for a quick bash session so you can see it run. Yes, we know it’s a racer. But some people will want this car simply for fun too and that’s who this video is aimed towards. Don’t worry racers, we’ll hit the track with the buggy in a Part 3 video!

Shouldn't have to explain yourself it's your rig. People wanna whine then they can go buy their own and put what they want in it and tune it how they want. Rc is supposed to be a community to have fun. Not diss people because they want to do something different than you. Good video bro✌️👍🤙👊

That is a great comment. I was asking some questions in fb group about this car, and got so many strange comments from guys , who saying they are seriuos racers (or at least they think they are D:): yous must buy tekno, yous must buy losi, you must do that and that... An di said, relax guys, rc is made to have funn, just relax :D. Planning to get tlr typhon, do some amateur racing with friends, i hope it will be funn buggy.

People are wondering why Arrma came out with this but I am really glad they did. I want to get into 1/8 racing buggies but I always felt that the Typhon 6S and Radix 6 were too much of a basher R/C. On the other hand, a TLR or X-Ray kit build is outside my budget for my first buggy. This Typhon roller is perfect basher/racer I was looking for.

I agree with you. I’m not quite there yet. But as my time gets more free in the next two years I wanted a crossover so I could play like Greg was in a field but still learn how to dial in a car without it being either too fragile or not as adjustable.

The problem isn't anything to do with the car, it's the fact this car's main competition on the market is the Serpent SRX8-E RTR, which is a far more economically sensible choice for a budget racer. To compare: ARRMA Typhon TLR-Tuned Race Roller: - Based on the Typhon 6S platform, a vehicle that, while not terrible, isn't exactly the best handling car. - Fully adjustable rear suspension, _partially_ adjustable front suspension. Front camber and front roll center are not adjustable. - Assembled roller, requires radio, ESC, motor, steering servo, battery, charger. - Is the top-end version of its model, not much room for further upgrades apart from some Team Durango parts. - Tires are crap - $419 on A-Main Serpent SRX8-E RTR - Based on the Serpent SRX8 platform, which, while not the most successful, is a relatively solid racing platform. - Fully adjustable front AND rear suspension. - Fully assembled RTR, requires batteries (2x2S mounted in a saddle-pack config) and charger. - Is the lower-end version of its model, meaning that it can be upgraded with parts from the SRX8-E Pro kit into a full-on top-end racing vehicle over time. - Has at least decent tires - $489 on A-Main (when available) You can kinda see which one would be the overall better choice here. You end up spending a lot more with the Typhon TLR Tuned only to have a vehicle that will struggle against the more racing-focused machines on the track. If it was an RTR or a "receiver ready" ARR it would be a far more competitive value, but as it stands you're just better off with the Serpent.

I see what you are saying, but for example for me it also better with arrma, i already have electronics and arrma has better parts support in my country then Serpent does. And for a starting race buggy (for some amateur racing with friends, maybe some race at club racing level) i think tlr typhon is a great buggy. Had thunder tiger bugy, it did not had so many setup options and it still was superb at our local track, very fun car, sad only parts are discontinued and cannot get it any more... so looking for something else.

@@sidlauskis Part support shouldn't be a concern with racing, since you're going to want to have spares on-hand anyway - if you're only buying as you break you're going to end up DNFing a LOT. And if you already have electronics then why not just get one of the top-end buggies instead?

@@VestedUTuber wel because of the budget. TLR Typhon is 400Eur, for example Tekno is 600+ Eur. Plus i am not planing to go pro racing as i said, just for fun with friends and some amateur meetings (club-level, trackdays, etc....). To go pro, yes the high end kits would be better ( with all the necesary pro electronics, radio systems etc. thats already over 1000Eur.) But just to have funn, i gues arrma is the right thing...

oh man, it was fate that none of the other spots were usable, it looks soo at home in the dirtbash spot. it is sooo well balanced through the berms, soaks up the landings and bumps. oh i can't wait.

It’s set up with 7,10,7 out of the box. I’m going to try it as is first. I typically like a lighter oil in the rear diff, so that may be my first change.

I'm assuming you were on 4s? The car looks good and handled well 👍 I only drive my Typhon on 4s and I have it lightened with a bunch of carbon fiber parts. It is a pretty confusing car though with TLR involvement. Not a full on basher but not a full on race kit either 🤷‍♂️

Hi @Great Lakes RC what sort of terrain do you drive?. I'm thinking of the RTR 6s Typhon but would run it on 4s. I'm a basher only but I don't go to hard because I like my cars to last. As a 'medium' basher would 4s be enough? tks

It handles everything you throw at it really well, and it's absolutely gorgeous. those TLR shock towers really make the chassis pop, this is going on my short list, you're the best man, ty! - side note that dirt lot looks perfect for bashing, I have a few MTs I'd love to bring there hehe. cheers!

do you know that you can put castle esc's and still get telemetry, unlike loosing the telemetry you get from the spektrum smart esc's or a castle mamba x with castle's spektrum x-bus telemetry adapter..oh you'd need a spektrum telemetry receiver also

Its yours put whatever electronics you want in it who cares.lol. I put a cheap hobbywing setup in my TLR 22T. I wanted a stadium truck and race kits are about the only option these days.

I have a question and a suggestion for them. If this buggy hits the race circuit is it gonna be under Arrma or TLR? Also I think it would be a better roller if it had a clear lexan body with the sticker sheet so you can have red if you dont want purple and pink one ,and I hope they release a clear version. Especially if it does go in the circuit.

@@jonthomas8487 i own 2 arrma's and 3 tekno's, yes materials are way different from arrma, and since you put the tekno together, you will see the quality and fitment, and ease of assembling of the kit..tekno's out of the box are tanks
