The Sudirman Cup is the World Team Championships, held every two years, and one of the most prestigious titles in badminton.
This match was the first qualification match of Group 1D between India and Malaysia. Group 1D consisted of China, India, and Malaysia.
Each qualification match included Mixed Doubles, Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, and finally Women's Doubles. Best 3 out of 5 matches won and the top two of the group moved up to the next round.
