There's a "VCV Sum" module for polyphony that has the same effective function of the split and merge combo (mentioned around 4:56), which could be slightly more compact and/or time saving. However the approach using two modules could allow varying volumes of each note in the chord (or other effect separation) with a different mixer type. More than one way of doing things, which is always a thing in this regard.
@@optoproductions That's the downside of having so many modules, it's easy to overlook them if you don't remember all that are out there and what they do. But when you realize some can clean up a layout by combining features - it's easy to go ham like the *ALL THE THINGS!* meme in the VCV Library.
