Great video - lots of good advice. Sometimes I find myself in the position that you show in the video with a good space from the side glass, but the ball doesn't come out this far. Instead it sneaks by very close to the glass even though it has quite a good pace on it. So I should probably be standing not as far from the glass after all. Any advice on how to anticipate when this will happen?
It usually happens when a right handed player serves from the deuce side. There is a natural slice/spin that will make the ball "stick" to the glass compared to the same serve being hit from the ad side.
I serve right-handed at varying paces with a slice, and it does exactly what you describe. It hits the ground and spins into the glass, coming out less than the receiver may expect. The key for the receiver is to NOT stand too close to the glass but to split-step as I serve, so they are ready to move onto the ball. If the receiver stands too close to the wall I will cut the speed and increase the slice so the ball whips past them as it bounces, and they have no time to adjust. That split-step is the key!
@@krheide1 not necessarily, stick to Sandy’s advice regarding this. Take it before the glass if it will hit behind the join in the glass, and after if it’s further forward. Just give yourself room and use the split step to be moving before the ball arrives! Fascinating game, isn’t it? So much to learn, so many options - love it!
Good video! What are the rules around time wasting on set point and opponents refusing to complete a first and second serve in the last 30 seconds of a game?
He’s not making the videos out of the goodness of his own heart. He’s trying to run a business which means working out the best way to make money. You can’t blame him for that.
@@philipweston1934 I totally agree! They also make money from the ads, so hiding content at the end is really not called for. It is better to be transparent about what content is in the free videos and what is "exclusive".
