Hey guys! In today's video, we thought we'd share with you three of the things that we're doing in our training at the moment to improve our riding and our horses way of going. These tips can be applied to any rider or horse at any level, and we hope you find them useful! If you do, please give the video a thumbs up as it really helps our channel. Thank you for watching! :)

Hi from NZ guys new subscriber here. Just want to say i absolutely love your instructions in this video. I had many many lessons with my stirrups taken away, its so important to be able to ride with a deep seat. I really really love your posture, your hand carriage is just gorgeous. My instructor use to make us ride no stirrups and balance a whip on our hands to keep our hands high and forward. Great video, i take everything as a ground lesson. Nice work to you both 😊🐎 ❤

Thank you - great video - simple effective exercises, clearly explained and demonstrated beautifully by a "normal" (ie., not Grand Prix) rider on a "normal" (ie., not Grand Prix) horse. It's relatable, practical and also lovely to listen to and watch. Would love to see more of this kind of video - instructionals and training sessions... I'm not so keen on the "lifestyle/chitchat/whinging about competition judges" stuff... RU-vid and Insta are already full of those Good quality practical videos on things that can enrich my time with my horse are a real gift.

Very helpful video, thanks. I haven't thought of a methodical separation of seat/hands/legs to become more effective before, and I will definitely try it. The giving & taking of the reins to encourage, and demonstrate self carriage was interesting in view of the growing concern with ethical practices in dressage, so good to see how it is done ❤. Thanks.

I love the training videos. I’ve just found your channel and it’s exactly what I’m wanting to see. I like to hear what trainer says to the rider so it’s clear what’s being asked and so as a rider I can take knowledge from it too so thanks for the videos.

Thanks both - another helpful video 👏. I took the stirrups away today 😅 Only managed two circuits at a time but, despite bouncing around like a space hopper, the contact was noticeably better and Frankie was much more forward … actually too forward as I was hoping for more of a jog! Lots to build on 🤩

Lovely horse and rider. Thank you for sharing! Have one question: when you check the self carriage, I thought the rein should show a loop or 2 reins show a loop. It looks like the rider hold the contact while just lifting the reins. But maybe I am wrong! Thank you!!
@boswelldressage
@boswelldressage 7 дней назад
@@spaziocasainterioare1656 if you are performing a give and re take in a test there needs to be a clear loop in the rein when you do it. In training the continuous giving and taking of the rein is as much or as little as you feel you need to do - it’s for your feel not the spectators/ judges eye. If you go and watch the video again I think you can see a clear improvement in the contact throughout the process of the giving and taking of the rein - so therefore I would say that it was successful! Hope that’s clear and helpful 😊

@@boswelldressage Thank you very much! Yes!! I understand what you mean!! I try always to give and retake as otherwise my boy will hang on my hands. But if i wish to be sure he hold himself and he is truly on my aids, , I always put 1 hand in front and the rein has a loop.During training as yet no competition LOL. Yes, a lovely couple indeed!! Thank you again!

Why is Indie's head pulled so far down and back? Surely that's too far to be either comfortable or effective for the horse.
@boswelldressage
@boswelldressage 6 дней назад
In the first stage of the video she is stretching forwards to the bit and lowering the neck to stretch over the back. At no point is she being ‘pulled in’ to a contact. She is being ridden correctly to the bridle into an outline to develop engagement which helps her carry more weight through her hindquarters and lighten her forehand. She is still in the early stages of her training so this will develop more obviously. We ride horses like this to help there overall conditioning for riding and there soundness and longevity. 😊

Is it possible for you to make these videos without the annoying music? It's extremely distracting and because I am severely Autistic and the music is very overstimulating, it actually makes me sick and I can't watch the video. The music is totally unnecessary and does nothing to improve the video. Thank you if you can remove it.
