A lovely video. It's also great there's no distracting music.:) I really love the flowery dress in the back:) Is there a video tutorial or written instructions for that dress? ❤

These were excellent tips! I use a magnet on my machine to keep my seam allowance correct, and I also use a sewing guide ruler.

I found so much value in this video! Thank you for sharing!! Also, what’s that cloth you are always using as your ironing surface? I want to get rid of my ironing board because it’s so clunky but I don’t want to ever skip ironing because it makes such a huge difference (and makes the actual sewing easier and more enjoyable!)!! I just love how convenient your setup looks! Especially because you iron over your cutting mat without burning it! You could probably do a whole video on ironing.

I'm so glad to hear that it was helpful, Liv! And I have a secret...that is just some scrap felt folded over a few times. You can find it pretty cheap by the yard at Joann's. I don't think it is like the "best" way to iron but hey...it works! haha :) I just move it around the cutting mat to the part I'm ironing.

@@RooneySewingPatterns that’s genius!! I always wondered! Hey, felt will take up way less space than a whole ironing board!! Looks like I have an excuse to go to Joann’s now! Thanks, Courtney!!

Great tips! The corner one was new to me! I’ve always used a chopstick to push out the corners but it looks like your tip gets an even pointier corner. Would love to hear if you have any tips for preparing a yard of fabric when you first get it…like how you fold it to create a straight edge before you start to cut. My fabric often gets a little uneven after washing/drying/ironing.
@beeticket
@beeticket 10 месяцев назад
Hi there - about prepping fabric, I would personally suggest thread-pulling a scant inch from the top of the fabric and a scant inch from the bottom of the fabric and then cutting along those lines. This will ensure that your fabric is perfectly even when folded in half and lined up correctly. :)

Hi Courtney😊! My name is Zelda, I'm almost sixty, and I have a new channel here called "Zelda Sews." I just started back sewing after being away from my sewing machine for many years. I look forward to meeting new people who love to sew as much as I am loving to sew again! I hope you will consider joining me as I share my sewing journey! Happy Sewing! 🪡🧵 I am definitely still learning, love to learn, in. I don't think I'll ever feel. I have arrived because learning is continuous and I enjoy sewing! By the way, you are a lovely looking lady.

@RooneySewingPatterns I know I'm a very small channel so I appreciate you responding to me. I would love you to be part of my community as well because we learn from each other. I'll learn probably more from you than you for me, but I still would love the sewing friendship.😊

Have you any idea what Dimity or lawn fabric is? I read old romance and the author always says she wore a dress of dimity fabric! What is it and is there a term today that is it’s comparable replacement?

Hi Rooney I just came across your channel ,I will like to know I like sewing but dont know how much yards of fabric to buy for a project when I reach d fabric store help me to understand how much to buy thanks
@RooneySewingPatterns
@RooneySewingPatterns 10 месяцев назад
Hey Lily! This is a great question and really depends on what you are creating. Usually knowing the measurements of your pattern piece or what you are making will help. Most fabrics come in different width sizes which are shown on the bolt of fabric. When you take this size and compare it to your project pieces, this is how you can figure out what you'll need. I need to look into how to explain this better because it can easily be confusing math! Thanks for bringing this up :)

Hi...I'm very confused. I just bought the Ola and the Betty dress patterns. I cannot find on the patterns the amount of yardage and I see that I have to print 50 separate pages in order to tape together and cut out the pattern??? I definitely need some customer service to help me figure this out....I'm sorry but this is the most complex thing I have ever seen. I would have rather been mailed a real pattern...please help
@RooneySewingPatterns
@RooneySewingPatterns 10 месяцев назад
Hi! I can help - our sewing patterns are PDF downloads, meaning they need to be printed at home (which is why there are many pages!) or at a print shop where they can be printed in large format. I can offer more personalized help through email :)
