first of all .... get some welding gloves , i dont know how the rest of your ppe is but i can see your bare hands ..... in the past i got some bad , very bad uv burns on my hands from doing stupid stuff .....dont do it seconf .....the rooot .....if your rod is out ....do NOT start on the slag ! and third , prep the surface before tacking
