Improvements make this hot dog cooker version a bit less unsafe than previous versions.
We use full-wave rectified AC to avoid a dangerous high-voltage filter capacitor. The power control uses an isolator, DC-to-DC convertor, and silicon carbide FET. The unique DC-to-DC convertor provides an isolated five-volt supply to power the isolator plus an isolated nine-volt gate supply.
We use a variable power cooking profile and time-based cooking.
This circuit has a single FET, but it’s also extensible to H-bridges as we've demonstrated in other videos.
