Some research indicates that seed germination can be improved by soaking the seeds in the smoke extract. Any comments. Here in Sri Lanka rural farmers preserve seeds by hanging those over the fireside exposing them to smoke.
I think that only applies to some specialty seeds that naturally germinate after a forest fire. I have never germinated seed that had this requirement, but some Australian native seed does better with a smoke treatment.
Interesting! I’m not quite sure how one can tell whether the baggie is upside down or not. Do you mean to say that when one looks at the baggie in the refrigerator that rather than seeing the seeds on top of the paper towel one sees the paper towel covering the seats?
Orchid seed is extremely small and needs to be started on agar medium - not something most homeowners can do without significant learning and materials.
