What a great video. What thermostat did you use? I have a victron mppt solar 75 15, which I use to monitor the isotherm fridge power. For some reason, instead of drawing 3 amps, it has started drawing 6 amps. I have checked the fan. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Once again thanks for the video

W1209 - cheap as chips - use them in a few places (fridge, fan, "garage cooler" etc) eg amzn.to/3BIgf04 No idea about your setup, or how its wired, but logically only, using MPPT controller to monitor fridge power has too many variables for me - as that would only show current/voltage from solar to the 12v system which would vary. Fridge could cut in (pulls c. 10A (?) on startup for

very interesting video and information, could you tell me what fan you fitted instead of the original vitrifrigo one and details of the other fan. I have the 80 cf version and it also runs a long time in hot weather and it also gives the start up jolt, I could do with improving my install for better air flow. any details would be much appreciated, thanks Liam

Hi. We use amzn.to/3HgSQ3Z to replace the OEM fridge fan (but check size/thickness on yours) and the bigger brother amzn.to/3Gc0L11 to extract to the back. Deffo works and gets the heat out, as I now vent the heat "down" from the exit vent into the battery box (over winter) and it keeps the lithium batteries warm with free heat!

@@Ryan_DYD thank you, I'll check my fan size and give it a go 👍

Excellent video thank you! I guess the fan power supply on the fridge is not PWM but standard 12vDC? Been looking at fans to replace the one on my Vitrifrigo C115i which is quite noisy (it's a 120mm fan) and most say they are PWM so am I right will they not work with the fridge? Also most of them come with optional '3 pin molex adapters' for controlling the fan speed. I just want the fan to be at max speed all the time.... so if I just feed it 12v it will be at full speed? 😅 Thank you!

Hi. Mine was just relay on/off - not PWM - would be nice :) So (on mine at least) it was OK swapping to a "silent fan". Though silent = less noisy rather than "silent".

Hi, very interesting and nice diy solution. Any info on difference in power draw?

Nothing accurate. In the heat, fridge was on for 30+ mins constant and ice creams a little soft. So "running" for 60-70% of the time? After mod, fridge runs for 5-6 mins and maybe 30-40% of the time. Fridge takes, say, 3A when running The extra fans maybe 0.5A and are on/off for 50% of the time fridge is running. So deffo less power, but the best thing is the evidence of colder beer, harder icecream and quieter running (no compressor jolts). If I had to *guess* 12h power usage was 25AH, now 18AH? I hasten to add - my original install wasn't ideal as the warm air didn't really get extracted well.

Hi, this is great. How did you get the compressor out to change the fan and insulate above the compressor? Thanks
@Ryan_DYD
@Ryan_DYD 2 года назад
Surprisingly, easy. *ON MINE* The compressor and heat exchanger is on a base plate that is screwed from the bottom into the fridge chassis. 2 or 4 screws. This then just slides out and the pipes that go up into the fridge had some flex. Not a lot, but enough.

@@Ryan_DYD thank you so much for the reply. I will be saving this for when I come to the fridge part. Much appreciated

Where did you get the thermostatic controller from? For the 2nd fan?
