Improving The M4 Sherman

A little more than a year ago, I explored the various upgrades the American M4 Sherman medium tank received throughout its service life, and what it would look like if all those upgrades were smashed into one vehicle. With the advent of Sprocket, we can now see how that ultimate Sherman would perform.

Well croshair was on turrets front not mantlet, and i think here Tiger 2 Has only 150mm on turret front.

So the reason its so expensive is because the way the game calculates how many tanks can be spawned takes total space into account, so if your tank has a load of space its not going to spawn as many tanks, no matter how bad the tank actually is. Also APHE has significantly worse pen in this game no matter the gun. again, also, you didn't need to add all those reverse gears considering everyone past the first one has the same ratio, you could get rid of the last two and still achieve the same speed.

@@dodobird679 Weight plays a part too. Its not one singular thing that decides it really. Or at least that's what I've heard, I could be wrong.

Hey. Just wanted to mention that the reason the Sherman was so expensive is because of its weight. It's exactly 33.9 tons and the budget is 100 tons. meaning it could only spawn 2 complete (or 2.9) tanks. Try to get it under 33,3 tons and/or you can change the budget to 200% in the settings. :)

You can actually angle the rear of the hull to give it that sloped engine deck. Think you grab the top edge and move it forwards.

Problem is, that takes the whole hull roof and angles it not just a section, you can't subdivide the roof into sections and change those heights yet

I've been thinking about that. Slap a Pershing turret on a Jumbo, probably put a better engine and gearbox in, and boom, no need for the actual Pershing.

Spookston, I just wanted to tell you that I really haven't played Warthunder since I was in highschool about 5 years ago yet you've always kept me watching your videos purely because of your unique style of videos. I actually recently made a Italian tank based on the parameters and limitations the Italians had in the middle of the war, is was a very fun experience, unfortunately shadowplay didn't record the process so I couldn't make a video on it.

You actually can angle the rear of the tank by setting an extremely high rear glacis, right around 80°

I really enjoy this type of video a lot because it applies the kind of upgrades that would only be theoretical and you can test things about a tank that you couldn’t in real life. Exceptional video

Really liking the new sprocket content. I think it’s going to be cool seeing this game grow and develop, and with channels like yours showing it off it’ll hopefully get a decent player base. Also, you can hold F to extinguish engine fires.(although sometimes it doesn’t work)

weirdly enough, the 75mm sherman had no problems punching through tigers and panthers, to the point that the army didnt want the 76 because they didnt have a need for it at the time (that would change i believe) so its performance in warthunder is quite perplexing.

I like the idea of adding a welded extra front plate to non jumbo M4s as a modification. Even with the Sherman’s angled front plate, late war tanks can pretty reliably get through it, killing the tank instantly.

Kind of cool to see that your Sherman looks a lot like mine. One thing you can mess with to help turret room is the turret ring, messing with its height and diameter can give you a bit more room in the turret.
