pov: You are a pianist in 17th century europe. You were caught playing a 7th chord. In the current year this is considered dark magic and the punishment is public execution by guillotine. With a black bag over your head, two guards drag you into a room and sit you down on a hard bench. The bag is lifted off your head, and to your surprise you find yourself sat in front of a piano. Underneath the piano bench is what can only be a trap door. You shudder as you imagine what horrors await beneath it. As you look further around the room and gather your surroundings, you see the the king sitting in his throne, smugly observing you, like a zoo animal. The merciful king has given you one chance to redeem yourself and prove your value to his nation. A wave of terror washes over you as you realize this is why your piano teacher was always hounding about memorizing your pieces. No, you tell yourself. Keep it together. I can get out of this. You steel yourself, take a deep breath, and announce to the king "This is an original work, called Sonata in A Minor". And you begin to play like your life depends on it.
