In 1602 Peggy Beat 'em Black and Blue - What If...? - Season 2 Eps 8 Reaction 

More amusing (to me) than Loki being God of stories and acting as Hamlet... Is that Tom Hiddleston is a classics trained theater actor and has been in several Shakespeare productions, including playing Hamlet. It's how he met Kenneth Brannaugh and that led him to the role of Loki. Tom loves Shakespeare. So he is playing Loki and Loki is basically playing Tom Hiddleston as Hamlet. This is my favorite episode👍🏻💕

The little touches in this episode were just too fun. From Loki literally being a Shakespearean drama queen to the Man in the Iron mask being the Man in the Iron Man mask- it’s all too good.

Peggy is absolutely the best part of this show so far

I half expected the Watcher to be hovering between Jay and Adam ala Disney's The Haunted Mansion ride during the wrap up.

This is my favorite episode of the season! I just love the concept of the MCU characters in medieval times, and the writers, animators, and cast take full advantage of that concept and made it a rollicking fun adventure. :)

This might be my favourite episode. I like that it was still an actual What if, but we only got to know what it is at the end. And yes, by this point I thought "Oh, this is a Captain Carter show in disguise" and was very much looking forward to you two getting to there. Every time you mentioned you hoped for an episode with her, knowing it wouldn't be only one :D

This was the best episode of What If so far for me, and, considering the constraints, it was an excellent adaptation of 1602. It was impressive how they got so many of the original cast members back - something that would have been impossible for a live action tv show. I got some real Avengers movie vibes from this episode. So much fun

I really enjoyed this episode. I loved the Medieval setting, and I found it interesting that the Scepter in this universe contained the Time Stone instead of the Mind Stone.

This one was really interesting to me as the 1602 graphic novel (or compilation of the main comic line, I guess) was one of the first real Marvel things I read as a kid and it is vastly different from this episode. I remember thinking it was very bleak and grimdark and I like how the show makes that Peggy's perspective of the experience rather than the overall tone of the world. It's especially interesting that they build up to the reveal of Steve being the source of the time-displacement, which was true in the comic as well (but for completely different reasons) as it lets them pull that twist and the knife-twist that comes with it off regardless of if the viewers know the original story being referenced or not.

Having read the original Marvel 1602 comic I got to say I appreciate how they managed to follow that original storyline somewhat. Obviously they changed stuff (no Peter Parker, Matt Murdock, Fantastic Four, and X-Men) and also made it less mature (i.e., Magneto and his children were in the Spanish Inquisition) but they did keep the fact that a time-displaced Steve was the anomaly causing the 1602 timeline shift.

Ah bummer. Was hopping to see u guys react to the reveal of the forerunner and instead it got skipped 😅

Peggy/Capt. Carter is probably one of the best examples of a well-written strong female character. Yes she can fight and have the same imposing/assertive demeanor as a man, but there is also a gentle, more vulnerably nurturing side that comes naturally to her. Well done, well done 👏

It was like a mini Avengers movie,easily alonside the episode with Hela,one of my two favourite episodes of What if this season :) Happy and Loki were so funny ;)

They kept it much closer to the comic version of 1602 than I would have expected, even with it being the MCU spin on the story.

Of all the things I expected from this reaction, Jay literally drooling over Captain Carter was not one of them. I knew that man simped for Peggy, but damn. Edit: It’s at 9:16 for anyone wondering. I had to reverse to see if Jay actually drooled. It landed on his shirt.

Loki with the yoric skull gives me the same vibe as dante in dmc4 when him and agnus the stuterring guy start doing a full dramatic monologue off lol

See, this would have been the perfect opportunity to have the 1602 X-Men and Spiderman. Charles showed up in multiverse of madness, have Rodger’s 40 thieves be the mutants and Charles is friar tuck (his church could be Friar Xavier’s Sanctuary for Enchanted Youths). Which, on that note, Does Vlistariah count as a Theocratic nation? Because having cathedrals of The Oxford Comma that are sanctuary for sorcerers wouldn’t be a bad idea for your nation’s growing ifrastraucture. The church I grew up going to had rooms and showers made available to homeless, and people seeking sanctuary from abusive situations. It would have been cool to see Night Crawler disguised as a gargoyle.

This is based on the graphic novel Marvel 1602. Where Steve Rogers was sent back in time and other heroes followed creating a whole new universe. Also I'm pretty sure this universe is the same as the Diehard Christmas episode because of Happy Hulk Hogan.

I've said it many time and I'll say it again. You guys make my day!!

As a fan of the original comic I have mixed feelings on this one. It was more a vehicle for swashbuckling action - which is valid - that actually doing any of the interesting stuff with Elizabethan Marvel that Gaiman did in the original comic (where Fury was clearly Walsingham, and Strange was clearly John Dee, etc).

Oh wow. You guys finally return to the series. I thought you might watch the wholes series of Echo before ending this one. I don't get it why you would do that but okay.

1. Just like Marvel Zombies, I deadass want a spin-off series based in 1602. There's SO much lore and wild adventures and hilarious things that could be developed. I'd watch that series. 2. (5:35-5:40) To quote King Thor: *"Calm yourselves, Peaches. Mind y'all's afflictions."* Wanda was great in Multiverse of Madness, the movie was great, Wanda's story came full circle. DON'T be like "those fans" who are being edgy by hating on the movie.
