The movie just wants to reiterate that despite having soulmates. It is still about CHOICE, when it comes to love.

It's one of my favourite movies! The sister's story though is much more nuanced and interesting - her timer shows that she'll meet her soulmate when she's 80. That's why it's difficult for her to form romantic attachments, and later she gets devastated when the first guy she genuinely liked turned out to be her sisters soulmate.

This movie tells one important fact. A soulmate doesn't have to be your love partner/interest. But can be your best friend instead. Love is different and complicated and cannot be defined by something as simple as "destined to be" or a timer 😂

I mean in the context of soul mates, it could always turn out that her sister’s boyfriend is her soulmate but in the school of thought where your soulmate doesn’t necessarily equate to a romantic partner. Rather that it can be a friend, family member or so on. So they could just end up being best buds.

Hypothetical here: Imagine your timer says you'll meet your soulmate in 5 days. If you for example, travelled to the most remote place on Earth/Space, would you still meet your soulmate? Imagine if you spent the whole 5th day in a submarine at the bottom of the Mariana trench, or purposefully alone on the international space station? There are 4 options here: a) something would happen to make you have to revisit civilisation. eg. the rocket doesn't launch, submarine has a malfunction b) you'd destroy the time/space continuum. c) you'd prove that the whole timer thing is a farse d) you could potentially become soulmates with an alien or giant squid

*My theory on the watch is:* When your timer gets implanted the timer is blank until someone else implants it right? Well what if the timer has some sort of camera footage that looks at things the host is interested in therefore looking around for victims of people that shares the same thing like listening conversations or visiting a party or by the looks and the timer shares what it learnt and once someone implants it and the timer gets filled out it means it recognizes the face of someone it went by eariler and calculates how often the person goes around the area and looks for a solution of when they meet like how the protogonist found her soulmate at her birthday because the timer expects Dan to go to the party and it depends how far away they are from the situation so it takes 15 years for someone to find they're soulmate because of a certain distance and figures out when the person goes there going ahead in schedule so when the timer was first released not many people got they're soulmates because its slowly learning attempting to find soulmates that may or may not have they're timers implanted so maybe this whole product was suppose to make money and fame out of it like some sort of scam or solution which is hard to tell because the timer did very well finding soulmates so you cant really put your finger on it and the reason that the timer finds out where the person could be in area is when the timer counts down to zero it doesnt instantly find the soulmate so the host would simply look around the area and when the timer recognizes a face they would alarm the host

The biggest worry I have for them, would be that there is this possible event of Partner A leaving Partner B, for a "better" Partner C. This happens in real life scenarios. So I would anticipate that once the Drummer finally meets his "True Love", he might leave her for his "True Love". But I also find it interesting, if I take the movie from the angle that they challenge the idea of "committing to the person you swear your love and loyalty to" versus "being with the perfect ideal partner". It would have been interesting if this movie is a long episode drama instead of a short movie. And helps to promote to people to appreciate and love the perfect they have, instead of being unsatisfied with the imperfections of their partner.

I haven’t even finished the recap but my theory is that there’s no science to this. It’s purely psychological. The timer is purposely set to match someone else’s and in ways they are persuaded towards each other without knowing. When they’re near each other, and the timer goes off, they believe they are soulmates because of the timer going off. It’s just like a placebo effect.

I think the timer is just a device to decipher and calculate every people's genetics, preferences, likes, dislikes, thoughts, ideas, interest, etc and used it to pair with another person with exact or closest compatibility. I think it was invented and developed to guide people in the field of love, marriage, and relationship but just like any other devices, the last decision is still up to the user.

Okay, I don’t know if this channel changes the ending for the sake of letting people still enjoy the movie or if there is another cut of this movie I haven’t seen, but this is one of my favorite movies and that is not the ending it had when I watched it. The ending I remember is that Una and Mikey have a big argument in which Mikey says a line along the lines of, “I love you. And you’re going to take the word of a little chip over what I can tell you right here and now?” And Una says yes and leaves. The last scene Una is running and runs into Steph’s boyfriend but instead of running away the camera zooms out while they’re still talking, implying heavily that they end up together. To be honest, Mystery Recapped version makes me wayyyyyy happier because I absolutely hated the ending I just described, because Una obviously makes the wrong decision in it. But in this version she says f*ck it and goes with Mikey, which is really a much better ending. Thank you to this channel for showing me this ending. It’s great.

The thing is... anyone can be your soulmate or "the one" for you... What actually matters is how you can bond and fight for that person on whatever happens. And for that, that's when you can call your someone "the one" and not depend nor waste time on a timer that will tell when your true love will show up.

Warning: if you depend on the concept of a soul mate, the below might be hurtful. If soulmates were real and assuming you live at the same time, and roughly the same age, you would still have to find them among billions of people. Most of us, I think, only even see a few million within our lifetimes. So it would be ridiculously rare for someone to actually find their soulmate. My very generous guesstimate would be 1 in 1,000 people would find their soulmate. When you look at those numbers, the proportion of happy, lifelong marriages actually looks positively attainable by comparison (maybe 1 in 6).

What if your timer goes off when you meet a person that is not of you preferred gender? Is soulmate purely on the romantic side or are platonic relationships included?

The book is called "The One," by John Marrs where people find their soulmates using DNA testing. There is a really good twist at the end and I think people who liked this movie will enjoy the book as well.
