On a serious note, all week leading to the funeral, I wrestled with the thought of giving a spoken reflection or not. I kind of figured I wouldn’t get through it, so I decided to tribute a song to her from me, doing what she always loved to see me do. My grandmother, surprisingly, loved choral music, so I reached out to a couple of friends from undergrad (NSU) who were in the area and performed “In Bright Mansions Above” arr. Roland Carter. It was BEAUTIFUL! Excuse the excessive gestures, lol. I was just so excited to stand before them again! My friends…My family!
…Oh..and to think… these particular people haven’t sung TOGETHER in an ensemble in over a decade… AND all they pretty much had was one day of notice and then an hour of rehearsal the night before. CMON NORFOLK!
