David Howard, Susan Jaffe and Alessandra Ferri begin at the barre then Leslie Browne suddenly appears for grand battement? Hahaha, lol. Thank you for posting this!
I don't think it is in 8/8. The sound quality is bad, but I think it is in 3/4 with a lot of 'rubato' ('stolen time'). It helps if you listen to the introduction which goes 1-2-3 rubato 2-3...and then the piece starts. Then count always to 3, with some stolen time between the phrases, and you'll see it will match. It's a slow waltz. Actually a counting more likely to be used in pirouettes than in an adage (which usually uses 4/4 or 8/8 tempi), but as far as I know, Lynn Stanford is a very dynamic pianist who evidently likes to move the tempi and use them in many different ways...beautiful in any case, I believe.
Susanna Groppello Yes it’s definitely a 3/4. A dancer would count it 1 and a, 2 and a or 123 223 etc until they get to 8 and a or 823. That’s why I said to count it in normal 8s. Dancers tend to count everything in 8s :j
Sure, I know, I am a dancer, and you are right, you get to 8 counting the phrases. Sure! Was just trying to help to count the music's tempo. Greetings!
