Excellent discussion. Dr. Carr is truly gifted in using history to provide context and understanding of today’s events . Another important figure of South Carolina politics is the White Supremacist former Senator and Governor One eyed “Pitch Fork” Ben Tillman. 1847-1918. He is quoted as saying “The threat of Negro domination hangs over me like the sword of Damocles”. If he were alive today he likely would have led the charge during the Jan 6 insurrection.

I was born in Columbia, SC in 1952 during the Jim Crow years to my Father who was the head football coach at Benedict College and he taught there. He also graduated from Benedict College and he got his Masters from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, SC where he also was a Football Coach. My Mother graduated from Allen University in Columbia, SC and was an Elementary School Teacher. We lived on Benedict’s Campus for 4 years. My Father died at the Veterans hospital in 1963 at age 36 from Kidney disease. He was a Navy Veteran during WW11 and was honorably discharged due to his illness. So I say this because Senator Tim Scott who is also a South Carolina young Man who knows that South Carolina has a racist history and the schools weren’t integrated until 1965. Also they proudly were flying a Confederate Racist flag in front of the State Capital in Columbia until Black People forced them to take it down after protesting for years! My Ancestors were Slaves in South Carolina and his Ancestors were Slaves too. For him to say that the United States 🇺🇸 is not a Racist Country along with VP Kamala Harris and Congressman Jim Clyburn who also said the same thing about America is a disgrace to all Black Americans who are descended from Slavery in this Country. America will always be a Racist Country!!👿😈

As Dr. Carr was speaking on South Carolina, there is a case of an enslaved black man with a disability forced labor over 100 hours a week without pay by restaurant owner. Owner received 120 months sentence and plaintiff awarded $546,000. Still happening.

Love "In Class with Prof Carr"; between him and Dr. Oba T'Shaka, my week is filled with overflowing knowledge so brazenly Black and Intellectual I have discovered a longing thirst for the wisdom, one I didn't realize I had. Thanks so much for producing these. On a side note, I have been begging for this since I became fascinated by Bobby Hemmitt in 2014; his videos were filled with metaphysical information and book titles, since then I wondered where were the practical Black Intellectuals with real world historical wisdom who could connect cultural and social dots and offer an equally immense and satisfactory bibliography. The Ancestors clearly had an answer for me.
