In close contact with Peak Lenin (HD) 

Hi Ivan, my three weeks on Peak Lenin was in August. As you know, 6.200m is a very high altitude. When leaving C1 at 4.400m you will be exposed to ice and snow for the remaining climb to the top. Ideally you work yourself slowly up the mountain and sleep some nights at C2 for good acclimatization. This mountain is a lot more serious than Kili, Aconcagua and Kalapathar since it is a lot more of alpine character. The weather can change very quickly and you also have a potential avalanches danger. I used a four-season tent, a sleeping bag rated -32c, downjacket and La Sportiva Spantik boots. I would never use regular hiking boots for this. (A hiked in sandals to C1 but then I quickly changed footwear!) During the day on the glacier at C2 it can get terrible hot, while when the sun goes down, it gets freezing cold. As you saw in the video I never reached the summit due to bad weather but all I know is that it is a very long summit day from C3 to the top. I plan to return soon and then I’m thinking of erecting a C4 camp at 6.400m. Good luck with Razdelnaya peak!

Thanks Wouter!! Yes indeed I would very much like to return to Pik Lenin! In good conditions I am sure I would have a good chance to summit. Even on my own.
