Explore the creative process of artist Ana Benavides who features in the Vortic Curated exhibition, "The Dimension of Feeling."
Ana Benavides, a Mexican-born artist based in London, completed her BA in Advertising and Marketing Communications at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in 2018 and her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2023.
In this interview with Vortic and KOKO, Benavides discusses her approach to creating works with emotional, spiritual, and energetic intensity, drawing from the biodiversity of her native Mexico. Her compositions, characterised by gestural strokes, are created through an intuitive, constructive, and emotional process. She emphasises the importance of physical texture in her practice, using free execution to convey materiality, intensity, and feelings through experimental techniques.
"The Dimension of Feeling," curated by Maria Korolevskaya and presented by Vortic Curated in collaboration with Art KOKO, is available to explore digitally on vortic.art from April 25th to July 11th, 2024.
This exhibition includes ten female artists, exploring the multifaceted dimensions of female creativity and power across the 20th and 21st centuries. Through the use of VR technology, "The Dimension of Feeling" offers a transformative journey through space and time, celebrating diverse artistic expressions of femininity as a source of freedom, inspiration, strength, and confidence.
