The 14th ANC Gauteng Provincial Conference this week elected Panyaza Lesufi as the new provincial chairperson. In what was always going to be a tight race, Lesufi beat Lebogang Maile by 32 votes. Lesufi received 575 of the votes, while Maile managed to get 543. During a media at the ANC headquarters in Johannesburg today Lesufi said there will never be any centres of power in the ANC, but the mission of the party to get things right from within. He was responding to reports that the newly elected leadership of the ANC in Gauteng seeks to recall Gauteng Premier, David Makhura from office.
