I didn't know Alien: Isolation needed defense. It's a great game. Really cool that it was Ripley's daughter.

I was one the ones who switched off from IGN because of this. They complained that the game doesn't have auto-save while I, someone who grew up with the old Resident Evil games, was hoping to play a game like this. Just because you suck at gaming, it doesn't mean that the game is bad.

I was hiding in a locker while holding my own breath { because I was playing on the Xbox one with the kinect} when the bloody postman rings my doorbell! I remember freezing like I was actually in the locker. Of course the alien heard the doorbell as well and found and killed me. The kinect really pushed this game to the next level.

Quite certain their review stopped the intention of making a sequel. Absolute disgrace from IGN

The reviewer missed the fact that the motion tracker makes noise so kept getting caught ... And kept using the tracker. Thus they found the game 'too hard'. I'm guessing they glossed over that fact in their retrospective.

It's not just a good Alien game, it's a good game in of itself. You could argue it is one of the best survival horror games all time.

IGN did this article because people compared their 5 for Alien Isolation to their 7 for Concord. 😄

Never forget that review score destroyed the chance of a sequel and the studio. The publisher demanded a certain overall score and that brought its average below the number. Ign is evil trash

Honestly, I just like it because the DLC lets you save the crew of the Nostromo. Going into that vent as Dallas and WINNING genuinely made me feel positive for the rest of the day, lmao.

I recently finished a replay of this game a couple weeks ago. I must have replayed it several times. The gameplay reminds me of watching the first alien movie when I was a little kid. An absolute masterpiece. I don't really care what the blue hairs and neck beards have to say about it. 😐

Why would anyone listen to IGN? It’s just one person’s opinion on something, and in this case it went against the large majority of people who quite rightly agree this game is a masterpiece.

Ive been gaming since the 90s, my first horror game was RE1. Alien Isolation is the FIRST horror game to ever actually scare the crap out of me for real. Such a great game

I remember at the time; it was reviewed Ryan McCafferey who predominantly reviewed FPS shooter games. He couldn’t grasp his head around the fact this was a slow paced survival horror not some fast paced action game.

I still have that game on my PS I've platinumed it on Xbox then PS, one of favourite games ever! IGN are full of you know what!

IGN Can’t do nothing right they can’t do Reviews at all like seriously they gave The Penguin, Transformers one and Joker 2 all a 5/10 but gave Agatha, The Acolytes & Rings of power higher scores also do nothing but complain about games like remember they complain about the design of Stellar Blade? Everyone I've spoken to says it's a good game, every review I've seen, aside from IGN, has said that it's a good game. So, I don't know what they're talking about; and I don't think they do either. 🤪

IGN sux, alien isolation is the greatest survivor horror game and alien game ever made, FACT

I loved that game, was fun af. Especially the old 80's/90's style monitors/keyboards and their version of what sci-fi tech would be like.

The same Alien Isolation that rubbed gamers up the wrong way by staying faithful and true to the original films with the audacity to craft an immersive experience that really pulled you into that world and packed it full with well thought out easter eggs and little details fans of the franchise would appreciate... then the gall to create a narrative that actually builds well onto the original film whilst paying homage with characters (including a protagonist who nobody complained about her gender because she made perfect sense to the story of the game and suited it well - who knew it's not an issue when simply done right and well!)... and then creating an experience which many, many gamers still recall as being one of the most tense and on edge they've been while playing a game and still hungry and hoping for a remastered version all these years later... SO diversive it still hurts to this day.

The thing is, all games have flaws, all games have problems. But, for a game journalist, not being able to detect a gem out of countless garbage games coming through is a clear indication of incompetence. No questions there.

I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out about this game. I saw an ad on steam for Alien Isolation. No release date - only a wish list button. Seeing some snippets steam provided and a few short clips, I was immediately hooked. And as the release date crept closer, Creative Assembly begun releasing BTS videos about the game. The tech, the story, the atmosphere, the alien. I got that game day 1, and with it, the pre-order bonus - the Nostromo DLC. I've played that game countless times in the last 10 years, and am amazed I'm still discovering new things and encounters that occur just out of reach. No game comes close to achieving a recreation of a universe quite like it. And better, it still manages to expand, explore, and invent the things the universe hadn't seen. My love for this franchise is cemented in Isolation. I loved the films despite being too young for them on a first watch. But Isolation was a release I got to watch, anticipate, and live with.

I remember playing Isolation in VR - The working Joe's choking me for the first time I will never ever forget- It was pant wettingly scary.

Alien Isolation was better than most of the movies. It's crazy that they didn't start work on a sequel right away.

By far this was my favorite Alien IP game. Way better than the sorry trash we got in Colonial Marines… ugh. Still gives me chills.

It's quite long and very scary survival horror game. It really gives atmosphere of original movies. It's not like alien vs predator games or colonial marines. It is different. If you don't like scary games it is not for you. That's all. But it definitely deserves more than 6 or 7.

IGN happily destroyed this game and then had the greedy arrogant nerve to host the official Alien Day fan films on their YT page back in 2019. This "revisiting" of their review probably means that there is something else on the way for the Alien franchise and they want to make sure to profit from it.

IGN and many others like them need to disappear.

This game in VR is incredible. I know it's not real while I'm playing it, but every one of my real life survival instincts are screaming while I play it

I didn't like that the franchise was trapped by having to have a Ripley in the game. There are plenty of stories out there of people vs. alien(s). Knowing that Ripley jr. lives to an old age and does not find her mother was a let down, forgone conclusion. Not great. I liked that they kept the Nostromo-Ron Cobb design, that was cool.

Can anyone legitimately answer this question for me please. I’m 43, been on the internet since the late 90s, so I’ve been with IGN and let’s say IMDB from the beginning. IGN covers everything from games to movies to shows and other entertainment etc. Obviously over the last few to several years I got tired of them injecting their own personal politics into their reviews and articles. But also in the last couple of years, their site ads are horrific. You can barely read anything before it gets refreshed, sent back to the top, over and over again. So my question, I really don’t want to use IGN ever again, are there any websites anyone can recommend that covers all the stuff IGN does without the personal politics and constant ad refreshing that Fs up your reading? Thank you to anyone who can help me out.

holy hell. isolation is 10 years already? it feels like yesterday. still my favorite alien game.

It was an amazing game right until the part in which I had to pick up the keycard from destroyed android to open the door. Unfortunately I didn't know that the best option to pick up the card from android is if you kill him by gun, not with the pipe bomb like I did (I had to use the pipe bomb because they were five of those androids). So basically, I use the pimpe bomb to kill the androids and then I saved the game before I knew that I had to pick the keycard from one particular android. When I found out online that I had to pick up the keycard from the android it was too late because they were all gone, along with the keycard. It was an obvious glitch :(

I just started playing it on Switch last week. Long way to go, but it is amazing so far. Blown away by it actually. It's like living though your own alien movie/story.

IGN's Alien Isolation review is what happens when you give a survivor horror game to an Xbox HALO fanboy. Reviewer has doubled down multiple times on his bad take. I really wish IGN would do a re-review from someone that is a survival horror game fan. Lost all respect for IGN when this review was released. You can't spell ignorant without IGN.

review can very easily reflect 2 persons opinions. in the days of old past game review magazines would often have a 2nd opinion inside the review from another reviewer. edit: I don't believe for a moment they played it on hard. also ffs normal is the intended experience.

I played this game a dozen times , love it , watched a hundred people playing it , and have been reading reviews since when it was released . And ONLY IGN gave it a bad review, I really dont care with anything they have to say now .

Alien: Isolation deserves far more than the IGN 5.9 rating, especially after playing it on hard. Visually stunning, with immersive ambience and atmospheric lighting, I’d score it a minimum of 8. The rushed final chapter felt like a missed opportunity, and I would have preferred a shorter campaign with an optional director's cut offering the full 18-hour experience for dedicated fans. More puzzle mechanics would have enriched the gameplay, and the inclusion of civilian encounters could have made it even better. Imagine if some civilians chose to cooperate if you appeared non-aggressive, while others reacted violently. Gaining their trust by collecting food supplies could have opened up entirely new gameplay dynamics. Despite these missed opportunities, it still stands as the best Alien game to date.

9:51 so not only did IGN insult Alien Isolation, arguably one of the best survival horror games of all time, they intentionally attempted to insult Return of the King for having a satisfying ending 🤦‍♂️🤣

Alien Isolation might be one of my favourite games of all time. The alien AI, the movie accurate environments and sound effects, the tension with never knowing when the alien will emerge from a vent, the bumps and sounds in the walls, and the beeping of your motion tracker makes this game a truly immersive experience. I play this every October and the Alien AI is what gives this game infinite replay ability. I've never felt like it was too long. IGN lost any creditability when they gave this review.
