James Brolly me as well this is the first time I’ve seen someone defending my house every time I’ve told someone I’m a Ravenclaw they’ve called me a nerd

Gryffindors: We got all the famous characters! Hufflepuffs: We are underrepresented! (And therefore there are now a lot of hufflepuffs) Slytherins: We aren't all bad! Ravenclaws: hello?
And worse still is that blue and bronze looks better than blue and silver, on top of the fact that silver is part of the slytherin colors - not the ravenclaw ones. The movies and Warner shafted us real hard.
I just want to add, Lockhart is a genius. He came up with a great plan on how he can be famous with the least amount of effort and it totally worked. It's not that he's not talented, he's just lazy. He mastered memory charms and figured out how he can be very famous with only that. Lockhart is rightfully in Ravenclaw and I'm saying this as a Ravenclaw.
In the Wizarding World site, Lockhart's background is written. Here's some quotes from there "his teachers felt that he was of above-average intelligence and ability, and that, with hard work, he might make something of himself" "Sorted into Ravenclaw house, Lockhart was soon achieving good marks in his schoolwork, but there was always a kink in his nature that made him increasingly unsatisfied. If he was not first and best, he would rather not participate at all. Increasingly, he directed his talents towards short cuts and dodges. He valued learning not for its own sake, but for the attention it brought him. He craved prizes and awards."
me, but to myself. me: *after taking MULTIPLE quizzes* I'm a ravenclaw 💙! me: *after looking up what ravenclaw is like* how though? I do so bad in school ..
Ravenclaw is about having an open mind and open heart! Embracing what others say it's weird and call it WONDERFUL! 💙 If you like to learn new things, are very creative and values what's different, that means you're home! 💙
It's a Ravenclaw Vs a Hermione (who is a Gryffindor) thing. Ravenclaw was so different to just plain old smarts that Hermione wasn't put in it. Yes, Hermione's Gryffindor traits are there...but Trelawney even made a joke about her being too closed/mundane minded, stuffy, and straight lined. She's very very school minded while Ravenclaw doesn't have that limitation that Hermione has. That's what I find helps me understand jokes, quotes, and comments about Ravenclaw intelligence; they are NOT Hermione. 😂
fun fact; the films tried to make it blue and bronze, but the bronze coloring kept messing with the camera and looking like a muddy washed out mess in the original film, so they had to switch it to a "cleaner" color.
I'm a Ravenclaw and I prefer the Raven as our mascot and silver instead of bronze, but I feel that my fellow Ravenclaws should just choose whichever emblem best suits them.
@@janeschwab1682 the hufflepuff badger is not a honey badger though. It is a European badger and they are very different animals as European badgers tend to live together and work together (like hufflepuffs) whereas honey badgers live by themselves.
I found two types of shirts on my warner brothers tour and neither where in my size!! I still bought one tho. I still bought myself ravenclaw bedsheets from primark
“Iguanas are basically squirrels for Florida.” That’s a beautiful statement, Ben. Also, thanks for defending us Ravenclaws. It sucks, I wanna buy merch but I want to buy the right merch
I have always felt that Ravenclaw has been the most overlooked! People always used to say Hufflepuff was, but that claim has been made so much that it has reversed their situation and made it so they are almost overcompensating, now being up there with Gryffindor and Slytherin for popularity - Ravenclaw is the MOST overlooked house by a mile and has been since way before any of the Fantastic Beast films.
@@okidoki1811 At least your house mascot is a bird. Maybe not a raven but still a bird. What the f**k is a hufflepuff anyway. And why is their mascot a BADGER???
Ok good video but let’s get one thing straight Luna Lovegood is an amazing example of what a Ravenclaw is, maybe not all Ravenclaws but one could argue that she is more Ravenclaw than most She is constantly doing something to train her brain She always thinks outside of the box She always thinks about things from many different angles and so much more Yeah she may be a bit (or a lot) out of the ordinary but that is what makes her such an amazing Ravenclaw
Yes she is but she was bullied by other ravenclaws which makes me think that most ravenclaws were not like her and that's why they bullied her. She didn't represent an average Ravenclaw. She represented a very unique Ravenclaw. And she isn't a lead character. She appears in the fifth book and becomes almost insignificant in the seventh and all other houses had significant characters throughout the series
@@achyuththouta6957 as a ravenclaw, i felt bad for Luna, knowing that Hermione is an anti-Luna (JKR said it herself) and also the one who is bullying Luna. But when they've met, Hermione began to understand Luna and finally became friends with her.
Couldn’t agree more! Luna is amazing and the best kind of Ravenclaw to #represent www.wizardingworld.com/features/seven-reasons-to-love-luna-lovegood 😍😍
She's perfect. People think we're just 'smart', and yet Hermione is in Griffindor, when Luna - the Anti-Hermione - is here. An individual, thinking outside the box, open-minded.
When I saw this title the Ravenclaw in Me nearly began to cry. Finally a whole video about us. But the majority of ravenclaws are more likely to be like Luna.
People really need to know that the mascot of ravenclaw isn't a raven but an eagle... If the translation was good it's because I speak french and I read the Harry Potter books in french 😊
The french translation is very good tbh the only thing i was disappointed with is that they didn't change Slughorn's name when it was a really good opportunity to show creativity. But apart from that it's a really good example of what happens when translators actually put a lot of thoughts into a translation. For example, changing Tom Riddle's name so that it is an anagram for "je suis lord voldemort" instead of "i am ...", while keeping the "Tom" part because he has to have the same name as the bartender, and while still managing to squeeze in a play on word with Jedusor - Jeu du sort (roughly translates to "the game of fate") like WOW i can't imagine how they managed to come up with that
What about flitwick? He may have been a part-goblin but he is one of the most powerful wizards, he is a duelling champion and the best charm teacher. He is also the second most powerful ravenclaw, after Rowena Ravenclaw herself. He is small but an incredibly powerful wizard. Don’t underestimate him.
i hate the people who say: Slytherins are all evil Hufflepuff are the “underrated” wimps Gryffindors are the only one who matter And Ravenclaws are the bookworm nerds
True, I'm a ravenclaw but I prefer experiences rather than studying... I'm not a fan of reading or stuff... Unless it's a veeery interesting thing and I need it for some purpose
Another Hufflepuff here and I have to say that while both are ignored is because of JK Rowling’s Good (Gryffindor) vs Bad (Slytherin) story that she set up while Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws sit off to the side. Not saying I don’t like Harry Potter because I LOVE harry potter but I wish Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws had some better, more prominent, stories and characters
@@spencersholden saaaame! I’m definitely a slytherin now. But when I was 11 I was a Hufflepuff. And in the books you’re sorted when your eleven and that’s your house forever. I consider Hufflepuff my true house since it’s what I originally got, and Slytherin my current/secondary house that fits my personality and motives better now
Me, a Ravenclaw: *sobs* *applauds like a maniac* this is what my soul needed. We shall rise and gain a righteous representation! #BringBackTheBronze #RemoveTheRaven
I wish jk had made the mascot a raven from the beginning bc it makes so much more sense and that's what ravenclaws are about but noooo she mad the mascot an eagle and the movies did a raven so now everyone wants the eagle back. I mean it's literally on the name ravenclaw so she should of done it from the beginning tbh
Vidya B. It is A LAST NAME! If my last name is Fox does that mean my patronus is a fox? The houses are named after the founders! And it is an eagle because "Like eagles, Ravenclaws sour to great heights." The name Ravenclaw is basically a pun/nod to the fact that a raven is also an intelligent bird.
As a Hufflepuff- I can confirm and we are very thankful but CAN WE HAVE A MERCH COLOR CHANGE TOO? Like that bright yellow is oogly like I love the Ravenclaw blue but we are bees now not badgers- owo
As a ravenclaw, I like the Eagle more as its just kinda a cooler mascot. However if you're going off of what best fits the house, the raven is the perfect symbol.
I think they should just make the Raven canon, people just automatically think of a Raven when they think Ravenclaw. Plus as noted by this video, the Revan would be a better representation for the values of the house. An eagle on the other hand is just a cool-looking bird.
Although amazingly smart, ravens are scavenger birds. They usually seek their food being at the bottom, taking what others left. Eagles, on the other hand, are birds of prey. Boldness, intelligence, strength, elegance and superiority over the prey make the eagle a more suitable animal to represent the house, in my opinion.
“Ravenclaws celebrate individuality!!!” Like five minutes earlier: “Luna’s not the best example of a Ravenclaw, she’s kind of an outcast in her own house...”
Valuing individuality does not automatically mean everyone in the house is actually kind. Every house has jerks (yes, even Hufflepuff, fight me). And personally, I also think Ravenclaw is maybe the least collectively social house as well, so it's easy to understand you'd have outliers and loners in a house like that. Being very individualistic, they don't necessarily have such a strong teamwork mentality that we see in Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs.
I prefer the raven; just saying. *shrug* I feel it better represents our House, but I also feel that each Ravenclaw should simply choose whichever color scheme and mascot better suits their preferences.
J: SSSSSS J: I was overthinking it J: Ravenclaws are just cheaters J: I just want us all to be friends *He was all 4 houses in one try to guess which was what house*
"Luna Lovegood isn't really the best representation of Ravenclaw." I somewhat disagree there, because despite her being an outcast even among her housemates, she displays creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, which are key traits that Ravenclaw values. Her intelligence is there it just manifests differently. Although I agree that Ravenclaw does deserve a character who represents the average Ravenclaw instead of it kind of being "either you're a Luna or you're a Cho Chang" type of deal.
I don't understand why Luna got a bad rap in her own house like we are full of outside thinking, why would we shun her? That's not Ravenclaw. Smart people don't hurt others unless they threaten them of which Luna doesn't so... Yeah, it makes no sense.
yea plus part of being ravenclaw is being an outcast so it would make sense that members of ravenclaw may not get along with each other as on like the other houses may
@@DahliaLegacy sometimes the smartest people are scared of what they don't understand and Luna being less logical may be frightening to a house of logical thinkers who typically don't understand people that well
Yeah, intelligence and knowledge aren't the defining characteristic of a Ravenclaw. It's the thirst for knowledge, intuition and creative thinking. That's what made Luna suitable for Ravenclaw. She was always willing to think outside of the box, unlike say Hermione, who ( although very knowledgeable ) was consistently stubborn and narrow-minded throughout the books.
I feel like when the majority of us looked at his shirt, and saw the stack of pancakes, we were just like “Ah yes, that is indeed a hufflepuff.” And just carried on with the video.
I'm a Ravenclaw, and I'm kinda gettin the vibes that my house are the ones who don't get invited to office parties and stuff. I would know, I get uninvited to parties all the time!
Well, why would we want to waste time on such a pointless event? It certainly isn't going to be fun, there are better ways to network for career opportunities, and we definitely aren't learning anything there. You can have your office party, thank you. I'll pass.
Finalllllllyyyyy! I can't find ANY good merch except for stuff on Etsy P.S. Its Ravenclaw because eagles have black talons. Raven - not the bird, the color raven (black)
Which is such a Ravenclaw thing to do, wordplay, you know Rowena was chuckling when she did that. Also, Ben forgot the most important Ravenclaw trait, thinking outside the box and not accepting the status quo, like theory crafting. Finally, Ravenclaw does get one thing, we have Merlin.
I have a feeling that the all of the houses were overall better fleshed out in the fandom than in the books. Possibly because the books are more from Harry's P.O.V. I do wish we could see a fuller, richer representation of the houses from the series in general.
And yeah - the colours and house emblem being misrepresented to this extent is ridiculous! It's almost like when you're a kid, and you're writing test, and you're not sure of a spelling for a word, so you keep alternating between two (if not more) spellings, in the hope that at least one of them is right! :P
@@logicallyblue3814 and Luna seems weird to everyone, not just ravenclaws. The other ravenclaws probably seem odd to Luna, as well. My point is that each ravenclaw could be a different kind of weird or eccentric.
@@mozziemeow9948 Have you taken the quiz more than one time? It doesn't always give you the same questions, so if you answer the same thing on the same questions when you take the quiz again you can still get different houses. I took the quiz 20 times in one day and got 9 ravenclaw, 9 hufflepuff, 1 gryffindor and 1 slytherin, so I like to think of myself as ravenclaw or hufflepuff, undecided until an actual sorting hat comes along and sorts me. 😁
Exactly! It bugs me that Ravenclaw is so underappreciated. I used to go to Universal a lot and the representation of Ravenclaw is slim to none! Obviously, Gryffindor and Slytherin have the most, with Hufflepuff having a little less. But if you look closely, very little Ravenclaw items exist. And to make matters worse, it's the wrong colors and the wrong mascot. More Ravenclaw representation!
@@VihtoriKye so true! Ravenclaws are terribly underrepresented! I mean the books in general are mostly centered around gryffindor and Slytherin, then there's Newt Scamander who's a "hufflepuff-hero" (besides Cedric, of course) but all we get is freakin' Cho Chang?! And yes Gilderoy Lockhart, like that's the most beloved character... seriously, we deserve better than this!
Honestly, I nearly wanted to start crying when I saw the title. Finally, a video all about us! I am a Ravenclaw and some of the problems i deal with is that many people tease me and say that i'm a nerd and don't belong in most social groups. #RemoveTheRaven #BringBackTheBronze
But wouldn't you be bored in most social groups? My experience is that it's best to embrace your unique individuality, be content with a very few close friends and go anywhere you want to go as if you rule the world without needing "acceptance".
LEAD character. Draco is not the lead in the story he is in. We are talking THE ONE LEAD CHARACTER. And Albus is just that. Draco is more important but not a lead. just saying.
Thank you so much for a dressing this problem. We Ravenclaws have it the worst out of all the houses. We are so badly stereotyped. Everyone thinks we are all nerds and stuck up. Not all of this are like that. Thanks a lot for this.
yasss the first time i saw him in da vid i legit started screaming and my mom came like "WOT HAPPENED" and i start screaming that i want the frickin shirt but i aint gots no cash soooooooooo
As a Ravenclaw, I am offended that we are said to have “blue and silver” as colors, and “the raven” as our colors are blue and BRONZE, Our mascot is the EAGLE!💙🤎🦅💙🤎🦅💙🤎🦅💙🤎🦅💙🤎🦅💙🤎🦅🤎🦅💙🤎🦅 #removetheraven #bringbackthebronze
Vendela I’m not hating on Slytherin, my therapist, my brother, and my best friend are all Slytherins. All I’m saying is that Ravenclaws are misrepresented, so are Slytherins, and they have a video on how your house is misrepresented. I’m just helping my fellow Ravenclaws. Trust me, Slytherin is my second favorite house (Ravenclaw being my own is my favorite) but I love Slytherin. #SlitherClaw yes I’m starting that, because both of our houses are misrepresented.
I think it is important to acknowledge that ALL of the houses have stereotypes. I am a Hufflepuff. I agree that Ravenclaws definitely get the shorter end of the stick. I will say that unfortunately, when I tell people that I am in Hufflepuff, they say things like “Hufflepuffs are weak” or “Hufflepuffs are the leftover house.” Also, it is possible to be a kind Slytherin; you can be ambitious and not be a bad person.
Yea im a ravenclaw and i dont see myself as a nerd if I told someone I was a ravenclaw they would be surprised because were supposed to be "nerds" there are other aspects too being a nerd is fine but being labeled as "just a nerd" is not fine there is more to a person then just their iq level
Yeah, the moment Ben said that I thought "but that's pretty cool!" Our natural paths are to High Quality and Good. When we choose a different path, we're endearingly inept at it :-D
I feel like huffelpuff and slytherin are now the most popular houses because everyone ignores ravenclaw and think that gryfindor is overrated (I actually think that gryfindor is overlooked and gets hate because people that are not that into Harry Potter LOVE gryfindor just because is the house where the protagonists house)
true true, imma gryffindor, and even tho i know most gryffs aren't fake fans, if someone tells me that they are a gryffindor i immedietaly think they are a fake fan EVEN THO IMMA GRYFF TOO oOf
Olivander is pretty good representation. He's brilliant and intellectually unusual because of his obsession. Ravenclaws love that. He's also a pretty important character since he was kidnapped and imprisoned for his knowledge and mastery.
Ryan H yeah my scarf is blue and silver but to be honest I’m not that upset about that. I like ravens more than eagles and I think blue and silver go better together than blue and bronze. So I’m not complaining too much
i know the struggle. i had my mom crochet a hat and mittens for me in blue and bronze yarn. it looks a bit more blue and gold now but better than silver
I think at this point we collectively just have resigned ourselves to the misrepresentation of our mascot...I had to check if the 20th anniversary edition book covers had an Eagle or a Raven. It's an Eagle, but the one t-shirt that i have has a raven.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!! I am a Ravenclaw and I am proud of it! #RemoveTheRaven #BringBackTheBronze Thanks for all the likes! This is the most I’ve ever gotten!!
True. But let's remember that he's the bloke who told little Harry that Voldemort did great things; terrible, but great. So, cool character and amazing actor.
I was genuinely confused when I saw that the Ravenclaw uniform merch was silver and blue. me: wait I could have sworn the colours were bronze and blue.
People often forget that creativity is one of the Ravenclaw house traits. 💙( And everything mentioned in the video)💙 Not all Slytherin's are evil💚 Hufflepuffs aren't leftovers from the sorting or weaker than the other houses💛 But in the end I'm still proud to be a Ravenclaw and hope that I will sometime be able to get the right merch at the store.
it sucks that Gryffindor is basically seen as either “the dumb jocks” or “the bandwagon house” for fake fans who don’t know/care about the other houses
Im curently showing my nephew Harry Potter for the first time and I’m like REMEMBER SLYTHERINS CAN BE GOOD GRYFFINDORS CAN BE BAD RAVENCLAWS AND HUFFLEPUFFS NEEDS TO BE REMEMBERED
Well, Ravenclaw has Luna = a fan favourite Quirrell = gives Harry his first huge experience with evil and helped make him strong Lockhart = Teaches Harry what he could become if he lets his ego grow to much Trelawney = Makes the prophecy that the whole story's centered around. Cho: Gives Harry his first kiss
Luna- bit crazy but nice Quirell- dude had voldemort at back of his head Lockhart- coward who stole other people acomplishemnts Trelwaney- bit crazy but nice Cho- its cho bruh
Gryffindors: We got all of the good guys. We got Harry Freaking Potter Slytherin: We got all of the cool bad guys. We got Voldemort! Hufflepuffs: Bro, we got Newt Scamander and Tonks. We all good, bro! Ravenclaws: Hey, we got Lockhart and Quirrell. We also got Trelwany and Luna, both are kinda crazy. And we got Cho, an emotional breakdown machine. Yeah...
I have no qualms with gryffindor at all I have qualms with merchandisers making money off of only gryffindor and slytherin. Raven claw and hufflepuff have very little merchandise
