We wrapped up our 2022 250 Shootout and in doing so we wanted to dive deep into the pros and cons of each bike individually. Take a listen as we discuss how the 2022 Suzuki #RMZ250 placed in our #250Shootout and why.
We will have three different versions of our 2022 250 Shootout: a complete article on VitalMX.com, a short and sweet video where we briefly cover how all seven bikes are placed, and these bike-specific videos. Make sure to keep an eye out as we release the rest of the line-up as the week goes on.

Suzuki makes good motorcycles guys. If your a pro level rider than you need a Yamaha or KTM but everyone else can get suspension done on new Suzuki + add a pipe an be very happy!

New Suzuki + Suspension + exhaust would be more expensive than a stock Yamaha or GasGas. You're not saving money and may as well just buy one of the more modern bikes at that point.

The Suzuki might come last but I’d still buy it over any new bike that’s out now. I currently have a 2021 RMZ 250 and I leave it outside 24/7 here in Alaska in -37 degrees and after kicking on the bike for a 5-7 minutes it starts right up and stays going. Other guys with the Electric start bikes can’t even get them started because the batteries and starters weren’t designed to be -40 degrees below zero. Out in more remote areas of the world simplicity and reliability are better than what’s new. I came from a 2014 Husaberg FE350 that was bought brand new off the show room floor and it was a good bike and I preferred how it looked but there was definitely days were the bike didn’t want to start in just 60 degree jeans and sweatshirt weather. As of price unfortunately I paid $9,800 for a RMZ, I feel like thats KTM pricing but up here people are trying to sell new KTM 250/350/450s for $14,500-$17,000 depending on if it’s a stripped down MX bike(14,500USD) or a SIX DAYS Edition bike($17,000USD) so unfortunately MSRP doesn’t even matter because of the stupid dealer markups.

As a 232lb. veteran ride, I love my 19 rmz250. I don’t need electric start. The I don’t need over rev. topend power. I like the turn in stability the most. Plus all the $ I saved, I’ve been able to get aftermarket stuff.

I don't care if it's ranked #1 or #7, its still a fun bike and I like suzuki. Drop the spring rate and set up the clickers for your liking and the lap times will be very close to the best in the class. Its will cost $ to put an exhaust and vortex ecu mapped by twisted development, but it wakes up the rmz. With exception of the top 1 or 2, you are going to have to do some suspension work anyway. If the yellow bike fits ur style, then its worth doing a few mods. But dropping the spring rate will be the best bang 4 your $. As for me I only ride for some fun, not interested in pro racing anymore. While the button is nice, its a non issue, as the bike starts super easily.

Idk i have an rmz450 and it dynos higher than my homies 2019 ktm 450 mines a 2025 not only that his tops at 87 mine at 91 doesn’t mean much but def means there is some misconception about the bike being slow bc it’s really not. At 6'3" 210, vet class, am I too big and old to enjoy it? I want the smaller displacement for reducing arm pump, but I also don't want to have to ride the piss out of it everywhere just to clear all the jump. My opinion: everyone who owns a rmz and knows how to do maintenance (so not idiots riding motors at 500 hours no rebuild, letting filters go to shit etc) loves their bike. Never heard someone say “i hate my Suzuki” lmao so sounds to me like it’s a pretty easy bike to make whatever u want it. Also bike def isn’t uncomfortable i think none of them ride Suzuki so it feels different . Imo yz is most awkward bike to ride if u don’t have one. Feels like a fuckin tank lol fast as hell tho

I had bought a ktm 450 new in 2020. Had 15 hours on it an had to pull the engine an take it to the guy who does my engine work. A piece inside the engine broke. I can't remember the name of the piece, but it helped allow the bike to shift through gears. It was a quick fix. But the original part was very poor cheap quality. I remember when the new part showed up, I didn't think I got the right piece because it was such better quality than the OEM.
