Damn, I sure hope that you put more than 7.5 lbs of torque on those head bolts. Final spec is 36.8 lbs, so that is pretty damn critical.
@toddradke3484
@toddradke3484 3 года назад
I hope you torqued the head to more then 7.5 ft/lbs! That is only the first step. The small outside nut stays at 7.5 the 4 large M10 nuts get torqued to 22.1 ft/lbs and then up to 36.9 ft/lbs for the final torque.

Was just about to comment the same thing... Must have only read the first torque setting, missed the 2nd and 3rd...

Yes I was thinking the same thing as well. Its annoying when ppl correct every little mistake in videos but this mistake could cause someone to basically start over and waste a whole day of wrenching. I wonder if the head gasket leaked? Otherwise a great video and appreciate it. My first KTM so wanted to see any differences. Only other thing I'd add is to always double check TDC from the timing mark. You made sure the piston was at the top of the stroke when put the head on but when putting the cams on it could have moved without you knowing. Probably not but I always double check that from the timing mark. I've had 4 strokes jump timing and the damage is catastrophic to the head, valves, cylinder and piston in alot of cases.

book calls for lactate 5910 between the engine case and cylinder but I have seen multiple videos of people putting on no sealant in that spot. what do you think I should do?

Thanks for the tips and tricks. It sure is going to help out a ton when I replace the top end on my 2019 250xcf in a couple weeks. One question.. is it possible to do the top end with the motor still in the frame or should I just pull it out like you did?
@jaimearaque7449
@jaimearaque7449 4 года назад
I think that it's easier work with engine pull out. It's more comfortable for you.

Did you gap the rings ??? Do not install the ring gap intentionally on a load axis - AKA the front or the back of the piston.

I need help guys? I got a leak around my front sprocket so I ordered the countershaft o ring kit. I’m not a mechanic. I can do it myself or take it to shop? I have all the tools and I can do some stuff. Also I ordered a 14 tooth front sprocket. I like low power for wheelie’s so should i order a 12 or 13? Thanks!!

Anyone can answer but is the piston at top dead center when the engine is between the compression and power stroke so the piston will come up to compress and if it's at top it should spark but because no spark then it is at top dead center am i right?

Hey I just bought an 06 ktm 250 sxf and it was seized up I got the engine free and couldn’t get it started so took the cam cover off and seen the timing was off them looked closer and the cam bridge that holds the actual cam down snapped… could that have been why it locked up as it was riding the person I bought it from said it locked up while riding I paid $500 so it’s not like I’m out a lot haha just don’t want to go into the head or anything further if it’s a simple fix any help would be very much appreciated
