The John Deere 2100 Minimum Till Ripper was designed to work compacted soil in all types of conditions. Our dry, hard soil here in Western Kansas needs an implement such as this to really get down deep to loosen compacted soil. At the same time it is designed to leave the surface intact to avoid moisture loss and erosion. Best of both worlds!

Wondering if the shank is moving up and down in the video because of compaction and not because of rocks.?

What size 8R tractor will be able to pull it

Thanks for the question, Marcus. The tractor size depends on your soil type, moisture, target depth, and what type of points you have installed. John Deere recommends 30 to 40 horsepower per standard but we found that more is better. The customer that purchased this piece has a 8R with 370 horsepower and at times we were using all available power ripping 14” deep at 4 mph. Granted, this was in compacted dry ground. If you have any more questions feel free to call Jacob at 620-518-1623.

Are there models that have only 2 or 3 shanks as my John Deere is rated at only 70 horsepower?

Horsepower per standard: 22.3-29.8 kW 30-40 hp Depending on soil type, moisture, and depth of operation NOTE: Maximum compatible tractor engine - 231.2 kW 310 hp

Any idea why my 2100 will bend the 3/4 shanks at 4 mph behind a 200hp tractor going straight with zero rocks? They'll wiggle back and forth 14" down and then eventually move so far that the point will turn inward and twist the entire shank bend back and out of the ground. I bent all of them at $610 a pop. I'm afraid to go back out with the new ones.
