Sweet... I discovered your videos a week ago and I have become obsessed! Almost a ASMR with great commentary that helps me switch off after long days at work and riding/Zwift racing.. Full kudos to the son for editing them. Keep it up, Love them.

Oh like you I use Car detailing kit on my bikes... just one word of caution.. I USED to use tire shine on my bikes, Mainly armour all, Auto fitness and auto glym ( I have LOTS of car detailing stuff!)... One of my MTB bikes was not used for best part of 8 months and 2 brand new Shwalbe Nobby nick tires cracked and perished around the sidewalls up to edge of the tire tread where you stop with the cleaning product. The regular used and not so extensively cleaned bikes (tires ay way) stored in the same dry dark location suffered the same issue.. After a bit of research and looking on bike forums these products can dry out and destroy rubber- especially in dry climates. Plenty stuff on the internet if you look. Once again I love your videos and I hope this info is useful

@@Bikespeeds no probs pal. Its always worth sharing info if it can help others if you have messed up.. I learned the hard way and after lots of conversations with my LBS, Shwalbe and other riders I finally found out on forums. Mainly by folks in hot climates have had the problems. . I have just finished restoring my year 2000 23 year old Cove stiffee MTB that I used to race on back in the day . I am led to believe it was the first one in the uk with disk brake mounts , the rear one is on the inside of the chain stay which was a real cool feature .. It's now MINT like new but having a nightmare with the Hope C2 brakes . Well obsolete and the pistons keep seizing if I don't use it for a few months. I even managed to fine a Brand new (20 odd year old) unused pair of Tioga factory XC tires that I used to race on back in the day!! Just watching your Scott plasma restoration!! Love your vids

As a mountain biker, I really enjoyed this one. Made me chuckle as my bike is nowhere near as clean as this, but I have serviced most of the bits you were working on in the last six months.

Haha a clean bike is a happy bike but there’s no harm in riding them at all. Enjoy it!🧡

Maybe all bike shops should this type of video. Where my wife works they do some sort of video on there cars when fixing them, but it’s not as detailed as these. Sometimes finding a trusted LBS can be a problem.
@Bikespeeds
@Bikespeeds 2 года назад
It’s just not commercially viable to do every job with a video. We find filming typically takes three times as long for the actual job and then typically 2/3 days for editing.

@@Bikespeeds I know what you mean, it's like a mini production what you guys do. The tips you give us are like gold. I have my bike in for a service next Friday at my LBS, but if I was close to your shop I would book it into yours. Anyway not sure if you have done an upgrade bike yet, why I ask is, I not sure whether to grade my bike or buy a new one.i thought I may be able to upgrade to a better group set and some better wheels.

Big fan of the channel and great to see full suspension mountain bikes on here! Not sure if you guys knew about the Sram Eagle derailleurs, they have a little button you can press when you extend that pulley arm to lock it in place to remove the tension. Very handy and makes it easier to put chains on, and remove and install rear wheel.

I realize there’s a lot of variation on torque specs but gosh if you guys made a general video on how to properly check the torque on a bike with a torque wrench, SO many people would watch it! I’m talking about you walking us through a mountain bike vs a road bike and describing what torque values are generally found on which parts- stem bolts vs seat clamps, etc. You could do it kinda like you did the greases and oils video.

It's not uncommon to purposely over-tighten the preload on the crankset if the rider does a lot of jumping. That way when they take their feet off the pedals to do a trick in midair, there's less chance of the cranks spinning around to a position the don't expect, and they can more reliably get their feet back on the pedals before landing.

Hi Oreo That’s a question we get asked regularly but I tend not to answer because the price can fluctuate so much from bike to bike depending on what I assess when I price them and I never want to mislead anyone reading the comments. 🧡👍🏻
