On 11 May 2010, Mark Shenton interviewed Helen McCrory live on stage at the Donmar Warehouse, during the final weeks of rehearsal for the Donmar's production of THE LATE MIDDLE CLASSES.
I saw her first in 'The Late Middle Classes' at the Donmar. She was quite brilliant on the Susan Aberne like world of Simon Gray's mother. She was quite brilliant and at the end i noticed her husband was sat behind me. I chatting to Damian, who was charm itself and very funny with striking green eyes. Bumped into the pair of them at Wyndham later, what a charming couple. I was upset hearing Helen died last Friday and in retrospect 'The Deep Blue Sea' has an almost unbeatable poignancy. RIP Helen, Theatre is much the poorer for you leaving us so soon if enough to establish you as A Great.
@Ayden Sergio Thanks very much. What a thing to see ‘The Late Middle Classes’, best Gray play I have seen and Pinter sharpened it considerably. Clever woman Helen, miss her lots.
