Was in the Shed that day and this account of events is pretty much much as I remember it. I was a bit higher up to where the fighting took place and slightly to the right of the action. I just remember it starting and then everyone pushing down on to the Millwall mob, who seemed to be forced out of the bottom of the Shed by sheer weight of numbers. I have heard an account from a Millwall fan who said that it was the police who took them out rather than being forced out by the Shed mob, but that was not my recollection to be truthful.

Was at both games, brutal at The Den for Chels. Very accurate account of what happened at The Bridge too. About time a true view of both games. Mental days, and other than The Den debacle a great season for Chelsea and its mob.

I think Millwall had a head start on most other firms they started in the nineteen thirties. Docks were always tough places . I can’t remember why but most of my mates didn’t wanna go to the game at the Den. Approaching the ground was like an industrial wasteland the three of us were going towards the away end and as we did we saw Danny Harkens(Eccles) and a few others going the other way. the opposite way with blood on there faces. Despite that we went in and there was no obvious Chelsea presence. In those days even between West London and South East London you could kind of tell us apart. We stood on the terraces and at the Millwall end there was a punch up going on at the top of the Terrace. A small kid asked me what the name of the Millwall reserve keeper was I said I hadn’t been for a while so didn’t know he walked back up the terrace and reported to some neandrathals we decided to get out but we couldn’t so we worked our way round onto the halfway line and watched the game and cheered all Millwall goals as they won three nil. Football hooliganism back then was like a sort of tribal ritual that some teenage men kind of need. We were like an army and the second division was a really great excursion for us we went all over the country to places we wouldn’t normally go like York on the fa cup Bristol Bolton etc and despite it being our teams lean years we were the biggest show in town. Cardiff was another really hard dock town Middlesbourough also had a mob. We didn’t just go for a punch up we are all die hard fans of the team. Still love Chelsea but footballs a mainstream trillion quid industry . It will Never be the game it was then which is a good thing really. Much better to go to a game without there ring what would now be called riots taking place. For us who jcame of age in the late sixties it was a great way to feel part of a young working class cult that put the fear of god into the establishment . I don’t think punk would have happened it it were not for hooliganism original Skins

Was at both games. Battered on the Pitch and in the Stands at the Den. CFC knew on return that Millwall would try again so we're ready . I didn't get to the game until just before kick off because of work so missed Shed Incident and after game Old Bill kept most of the Millwall Boys in the ground so I got home safely. Millwalls F- Troop and West Ham ICF were feared and respected by Chelsea in those days so when you went to their grounds CFC mobbed handed with trouble somewhere around ground or inside guaranteed - believe or not in those days being 16 yrs old you expected trouble at any football ground so seeing this violence was normal - things have changed for the better now and although still trouble it's not like the 70's and 80's - if that continued they way it was 100's would be badly hurt or killed and Football in the UK would of been banned

Chelsea would've taken the CBL if they went in as one, Millwall would've taken the Shed if they went in early and with bigger numbers...respect to Millwall though, as the Shed was at its best with the North Stand mob in attendance....I went to both games...both mobs did their finest, great memories....

I was a neutral at this game sitting in the big new stand, the one in brown rust proof paint, as it was then. Had a really good view of the situation of the Shed and Northstand. From where I was, it looked like Millwall managed to get there firm together and seemed to try and move towards the middle of the Shed, but where sussed by the Chelsea as soon as they started to move, and as the two said on the video said, sheer weight of numbers pushed them down to the pitch. TBF, they must either be mad or have a death wish, and although a retreat, they were having a go all the way down the terraces. I can honestly say, that as a youngster of 17, I had never seen anthing like it, and believe me I had seen some $hit around the Grove, Bush, White City and Kilburn in the last few years, but that game was a different level - respect !

3 different Chelsea Mobs got well weighed in at millwall. Bad tactical error by Chelsea. Chelsea were well up for the return at the bridge. What I saw before the game was a Chelsea firm steaming wall outside the away end with wall backing off and Chelsea being baton charged by the forces of law and order towards the shed. It was obvious wall were gonna have a pop at the shed, hence massive numbers of northstand welcoming committee congregating at the top of the shed main entrance stairs and bovril entrance. Wall came in in small groups and stood below the bovril where they were sussed and pummelled towards the dog track by shear numbers. Loads more wall were in the shed but melted into the crowd. Not sure what happened after but heard it went off big time towards the NER.
