@@winchesterdean5939 Lunar Strain, The Jester Race, Subterranean. I do though like Clayman, Colony, and for whatever reason I love as well A sense of purpose. But imo they were at their best in the beginning when they were true Gothenburg melodic death metal and not the watered down mainstream melo-pop-death they became.

The "If I ever, If I never" part I think is the person pondering that regardless if they choose to commit suicide, they still want to understand why they have those thoughts. Then the chorus is the friend being there for them and helping them through, while the verses are explaining how the main person feels.

One of the times I saw In Flames, I believe around ‘06 or ‘07, a kid was holding up a huge sign suggesting they play ‘Jotun.’ They had also taped 2 dollars to the sign lol. The kid was called on stage afterwards, and the singer told him, “We don’t want your money, but, if we play this song, then you have to sing it.” The kid knew all the words, and killed it!!! Was a very memorable show!

@@Carnage1138 My personal Soilwork fav is "Let this river flow" Has both heavy parts and more mellow and melodic ones... which of course can be said about almost all of their songs... Maybe it is the intro and extro... Idk, just love that song

This is really the last of the In Flames albums I could connect with. After this, they just changed too much (and members started changing), seemingly chasing more accessibility.

Can you elaborate why the older ones are better in your opinion? I like their newer stuff a lot more but I seem to be in the minority.

@@P0lkoli I like both old and new In flames but the old stuff alot more. The albums from RoR has alot of Nu-metal and Metalcore influences instead of the great riffs and melodies from their earlier albums. Clayman is abit in between and one of their best albums imo.

I second that! The new stuff is not crap and I like some of the new musics, but is way too much "experimental" for my taste...

IMO The Jester Race up to Clayman are all brilliant with Colony and Clayman being timeless masterpieces. Reroute to Remain was good, can't remember Soundtrack but I don't think it was good. Come Clarity has some really great songs(like this one and Pacing Death's Trail) and a lot of trash as well.

Dark Tranquility is bad ass. Saw them this year. Listening to them for almost 20 years. The venue I was at, I was up against the stage fist bumping the guys as they played......man what a great time!!!!!

I can say starting from there 3 album The Jesters Race and followed by there Classic Album Whoracle. Colony and clay man were really good. There first 2 were kinda eehhh hahah. I think during the yrs theyv gotten soft a bit.

I mean, "The Jester Race" was released in 1996, 2 year after their first album.. and their latest release was 2016. So of course a band will evolve across 20 years. @Daniel Johnstone I wouldn't say their old stuff is hyped much, and definetly not overrated imho. I think it's more people saying that being the ones who got into them back in '96/'97 with "The Jester Race" and "Whoracle", and for some reason bashing on those fans who found In Flames in their "boom" in 2000-2002. I got into them in '96, but I never "hype" those old releases up.. it's really stupid honestly to do so, since their sound have changed soo much over the years. So I understand you, totally do.. just not a fan of the words "hype" and "overrated", hehe.

Their new stuff is overrated. I just can't get into it. I like everything up to Soundtrack. To me that band died when Jesper Strömblad left. No original members.
