best commet. I think SHE was out of order, seemed she jus set up a meeting to rudely try and set up a new chairman love the current chairman then just turfed him out for no reason, SHE was the bully, anyone with half a braincell can understand that... trouble is Britians now run by senile idiots!!
As an ex local county councillor. This is basically how it goes. Lots of people from the same town that hate each other trying to get one over on each other, each one trying to be the first to get an MBE or OBE before they die lol
I have questions because I'm curious about this and I'm a little confused in some parts. 1) What are these meetings about? 2) If it wasn't the implied gender bias, why would one normally not let a meeting happen? 3) If this was an real life meeting, would the judgement call Jackie made have been legitimate? Oh and whats an MBE and OBE?
@@glaxonberry3667 I think parish Council meetings are normally small local government members discussing decisions about whether people in their community can have planning permission to build an extension on their home or if a nearby park needs to have a new no litter sign up or more bins etc... I'm guessing, from what I've seen so far, that the reason they wouldn't let the meeting happen is because it wasn't called by the chairman, whose role it is to run the meetings. I think the bsckstory was roughly that the chairman and vice chairman and two other councillors had an ongoing disagreement about something. This caused the chairman & vice chairman to seemingly avoid holding a meeting for months so, the two other councillors exercised their right to hold the meeting anyway with Jackie as mediator so that they could have the discussion. And this was why the chairman and vice chairman were so angry, because they believed the meeting been called illegally. An Mbe stands for member of the most excellent order the British Empire and it is given to a citizen who has done excellent deeds for their country. An OBE stands for Officer of the Order of the British Empire and it is given by the Queen to someone who has made a great impact in their line of work for others. People who get them can put the MBE or OBE initials at the end of their name and enjoy the prestige it brings I think. That's my half googled explanation any way 🤣hope that helps. Someone else might explain it better
@@glaxonberry3667 apparently the meeting purpose was to look at planning applications. As to why one wouldn’t want to hold the meeting - not sure but the chairman commented that the statutory notice period had not been met. Council meetings are ‘meetings in public’ as opposed to public meetings so they must be advertised a certain number of days ahead of any meeting. Except for an Extraordinary Meeting, the chairman doesn’t summon council meetings - the clerk does that. However the rules state that if two councillors write to the clerk requesting an Extraordinary Meeting then the chairman has seven days to summon that meeting. If he fails to do so then a meeting can be summoned by the two members - but the chairman still presides. ( I comment as a current council chairman)
@@glepperd1 so the 2 guys were had higher authority than Jackie Weaver??hence the argument? How come the logged on into the meeting if the couldn't be bothered in the first place ?
Can we all stop pretending that Jackie weaver is the victim here? She had no authority there. If she had read the standing orders-read them and understood them, this could have all been prevented
The old Chair got kicked out by the IT Savy Jackie Weaver because she created the group meeting and she has the admin privileges to allow or deny access to the meeting.
@@lesleysmith7025 oh, no. it's still a parish council meeting since the members are in it where they will talk about matters of the parish. which they unfortunately didn't get to in the video haha
As a 40 year old man sitting in Las Vegas Nevada United States watching this story I think she has reached a level of Fame that she has no idea she's reached
@@robflynn509 Personally Id get them all on along side Alan Sugar so he could tell them all together.. "your fired" Id then release him across local authorities and the public sector
Hard to know for sure wtf is going on here 😂 but it seems... The Chair hadn’t called any parish council meetings for almost six months. Two councillors got together to use the rules to organise an ‘extraordinary’ meeting. Jackie Weaver facilitated the meeting for them as part of the County Council. The other councillors attended the meeting as well. The Chair attended the meeting to assert his rights as Chair ( presumably because he wanted it stopped). He also declared himself Clerk prior to the meeting, without being appointed. The Chair was angry at Jackie for facilitating the meeting. Jackie felt she was merely helping the two councillors who’d requested it, and booted the a chair and his two supporters when they got nasty. The meeting then appointed John as Chair (for that meeting only) and carried on. It was committee meetings in a nutshell. And, of course, comedy gold 😂
@@bennilol2034 it's not about being on her or his side. It's the law that prevents people from singlehandedly and without lawful reasoning removing validly chosen members of the council from the meeting. That can only be done after the council has taken a vote on in. Jackie, not a council member, did not like the way she was spoken to and then removed the chairman of the council. She even proposed to make someone else chairman?? I get that the old, white, male boomers in that room were a-holes, but let's not act as if Jackie did the right thing
@@Punipunpi_panda I suspect that there’s something the Chair was avoiding discussion about. That’s why some councillors wanted the meeting held, but he and his supporters didn’t.
I've had a similar experience when I was on a Zoom meeting with my pet cat, the neighbourhood cats insisted on their inclusion. It was a riotous meeting, ending up with me banning at least 4 cats for abusive language.
Yep! and probably takes 30 meetings over 10 years, 100 tea cakes and 2 gallons of tea for them to make a decision only for the plant to have died two years before the first meeting to appoint a chairperson.
But she cut them off so why should they apologies? She talks about democracy but removing them from the meeting wasn’t a democratic move. She’s in the wrong.
questions that should of being asked Why did two counselors what to call a meeting? Why did the chair not want to call a meeting? Why had the relationships between the counsel members broken down? but instead we non the wiser
I Gardner.. as the other people in the chat have no control of their gender yet the reporter brought it up as playing a role in their behaviour, then that seems to be a loaded and prejudicial statement. Of course, if she was using a convoluted way to claim that gender had somehow played a role in some other way, I'm curious how she can square that circle.
And only show one side and make it about gender. Even though the woman who had the power to do so, removed the people who were disagreeing with her....
Strikes me Ms Weaver might have broken laws here. She removed the chairman, and vice chairman for daring to challenge her right to sieze control of the council procedings of a council she is not a member of. I hope the Poilce are going to check out what legal authority she had to behave as she did.
@Fethelious The Dova Then the entire meeting was illegal, as claimed. As the legal requirement for such a meeting would be that it must be under the control of the chairman/woman, or his/her appointed deputy. Not some random who isn't part of the council at all.
It was pretty funny and embarrassing at the same time. Some people become councillors to try to help the community others just like to have the feeling of power and get noticed.
"Democracy is hugely important". Said by the woman who kicked out the elected leader of a council without the authority to do so, then kicked out anyone who opposed her coup, then installed her own choice. Jackie Weaver would really find a home for herself in the leadership of the "Democratic" Republic of North Korea. That's her style of Democracy.
She was not the clerk. She was acting for the clerk..... so in what capacity was she there, just a random person off the streets? The clerk takes the minutes, they are not in charge. The chairman is in charge and in the absence of a chairman, the vice chairman is in charge. Never the clerk, or in this case, the person “acting for the clerk”
No they can’t because the Vice Chairman takes charge ; read the standing orders; read them and understand them!!! 😂😂😂 I haven’t laughed so hard in a while man.
Jackie is not a councillor she is a council official. So she has no powers to overule rhe chairman or to remove the chairman or call for a vote to replace the chairman when the vice chairman was present. Simples.
The pushy minute taker didn't like being told to let the chair run the meeting, so she kicked the chair out so she could decide who ran the meeting. She then tries to excuse this as her being a victim of sexism. She should never be allowed near official meetings again.
The reporter bringing the subject of gender into it. And why did they only give Jackie Weavers side of events? Did they even try to get in touch with the other council members? I'm certainly not shouting "Go Jackie Weaver" until I have more context. It's hardly an unbiased report on a news item is it?!
"I respect democracy" *proceeds to silence a person's voice to get their way* Both sides did the same to one another, and this is where our money goes, what a waste.
Shes a senile idiot and a bully, calling a meeting in front of the current chairman to elect a new chairman, if that's not bullying I don't know what is.. So many dumbasses.
Can we hear what the guy who got kicked out of the meeting had to say as well? Lets hear both side of the story.... so that poeple say Sky news are doing well in their journalism.
I believe that after the meeting, tripping on power after kicking him out of the meeting, Jackie proceeded to drive to his house and murder him in cold blood while shouting something about 2 council members and disruptive behaviour.
Jackie talks about democracy but she puts three councillors out of the meeting because they questioned her authority. She practically "silenced" three councillors who outranked her. We all had a laugh but she should answer for that.
I used to work for the local papers and I've witnessed a hundred of these. Always tetchy, always disagreeable. I've sat in one where half the members walked out in protest.
What was the meeting about? Why didn't the chairman want it to happen? Did he say it was never going to happen? Or just not at the time it was being requested to happen? There's so many details missing.
And Sky, as usual answer none of them, instead turning into a "nasty men against nice, gentle, kind women" slant. Even though it appears SHE behaved illegally and disobeyed standing orders. They often do,,,,, it's a sex thing!
The chairman of the committee hadn’t hosted a meeting since last March and so they essentially staged a coup. However, they did it legally, following the correct procedures under the law. For some reason the chairman sort of relinquished his title and called himself the clerk. So the vice chairman got angry because rather than contacting him, two councillors they wanted to elect a new chairman. That’s why he shouted “read the standing orders” because really he should be next in charge. But they ignored him and he left.
These are trusted with people’s money from their council tax . Give someone a title and this is what happens , and of course they will get expenses , pathetic all of them
Not really affecting people's lives. They are just local parish councils with very little jurisdiction over anything. They are not Members of Parliament.
Those men should immediately be expelled from the Council, disgraceful unprofessional behaviour. What happens when they arent being filmed ? The Vice Chair seems to have anger management issues. Shameful.
Can we please get an interview from the other participants in the meeting to get their side of the argument instead of jumping straight to 'was their behaviour misogynistic'? Its only fair and proper to get all sides of the argument before publicly shaming individuals and accusing them of such behaviour
@@2000disneyland At the very least, their actions were a little unprofessional. The angry man downright would be fired if he acted that way to an employee or employer, so I think it's fair to lean towards Jackie in this situation. Plus, they wanted to be present explicitely to stop the meeting, whereas (as far as I'm aware), there is nothing legally-speaking stopping councillors having a chat with each other with a third-party present. They were given the opportunity to be involved and wasted it.
@stacker I’m a woman and couldn’t agree more. People who play the gender card are infuriating. By the looks of things she was not abiding by the rules, that’s why she was disrespected!
Except procedurally she was entirely correct and within her right to do so. Those other participants had no right to try and shut it down. It's not about cutting people off, it's about allowing others the right to speak and be involved.
@@ultra_vires that's just factually incorrect an investigation found that she, aptly, had no authority there. She was some rando who overtook the meeting
Unfortunately this woman did not act properly - there is no power for a clerk to eject any member of a council - let alone the chairman. The chairman became (quite rightly) irritated when she would not follow his request to stop speaking. It may seem arcane - but the Local Government Act sets out how meetings run. Sky News should have done its homework...
