I love how IHW recognizes divine femininity rather than feminist ideology. A girls only IHW gig is undoubtedly an awesome idea given the content of their work like Earthwalker.
Saw this band for the first time at warped tour 2018. Never heard of em till that day was so grateful I seen them there. Truly was not disappointed love this band 🤘🏻😃
Can’t wait to see in hearts wake at the Barwon club in Geelong!!! My brother in law used to know the guys from in hearts wake ! Used to hang out with them haha ! Fucking keen as to meet them !! 9Th of February GET ON IT!
Bc i see everyone taking this in an extremely wrong way, here's a (i hope) full opinion on this: What IHW are trying to pass through to us with this video, is that there needs to be more girls/women in the hardcore and metal scene, especially at shows. and not just standing at the back being scared and shit, being in the pit, crowdsurfing, reaching for the mic, hardcore dancing, moshing and headbanging. And by using only girls, they want to show exactly this need to have more girls in the community. Reach for equality, not wait for it to happen.
Mario Garofano I truly believe that should be the human way, all these labels are dividing more & more people. I get shit from other females for not labelling myself as a feminist, I agree with some of it I don't the rest, deal with it. There are a lot more females in the alt scene than when I was young, I was one of two females in the entire school who was into Guns n Roses & not Take That. In general alternative music fans are the most accepting & easy to get on with people there are, but there is always room for improvement.
Lol, one of my close friends (a woman, _gasp_ ) straight up wrecked in a pit, at a Dillinger Escape Plan show, no less. Women don't belong in a pit? Lmao. Get outta here w that shit, she's laid out many a "tough guy". We're not all delicate flowers, and I don't need anybody else's protection. Thanks, but nah. For the record, also not a feminist/SJW/snowflake type.
Well said! I love mosh pits, if i didnt let it all out there who knows where id let it out. my issue is all these flipping kicking the air rubbish seen way too many people get kicked in the face most of the time by accident but i used to love hardcore pits people were usually so careful ime but since the kicking thing getting more popular its totally put me off. metalcore pits are my thing but mainly for my favourite bands or bands that really take me by suprise to how good they are but i go in knowing full well i may get a black eye or break something. broken several ribs, my nose put my shoulder out bruises galore but i figure you go in a pit knowing these things may happen. im just as happy as the next person to be front row in a wall of death it really doesnt matter if your male or female. although i do look at some pits and from videos this seems to be spreading from America some pits end up with people wanting to show how macho they are and turns into a fight, pits like that even for my favourite bands i wont go near. imo i see 2 types of girls in pits though the seasoned ones that can take being knocked over etc and the ones that like the idea of going in a mosh pit but really have no idea what they are letting themselves in for but when your going super speed in a pit its very hard to tell the difference (not always the ones you might think), it bugs me no end when people treat you differently in a pit for being female. northern Germany seems to be the most i noticed that though. sorry went on a ramble its been a while since youtube played me this song.
I personally love what these guys put out....the message and what they are about is awesome to hear still holding strong in the scene. I wish this type of message was stronger when I was in my teenage years, just in general the topics we hear touched on in metal so much. This is my 6:30 am drive to work , always jamming some In Hearts Wake at least 1 song!
I don't understand the backlash. If you truly believe there isn't a problem with the duality of girls to guys at shows, you are part of the issue. Nearly every show I go to, the comparatively minor amount of girls there are often marginalised in a manner inconsistent with decent human values, let alone the style of music we all love. Most of the time, I see girls groped in the pit or followed around at the show just because there girls and if you don't see this, and realise changes must be made to these behaviours, perhaps you need to really pay attention 🙂 Just because there isn't physical barriers to women participating, doesn't mean there isn't mental ones.
I've been to countless of shows and never experienced anything of what you are describing here..if you are uncomfortable with an occasional touch or push, you can find a place to watch and enjoy the show in the back or at the sides and this goes for both genders, since the front is usually where the moshing happens. Yet alone none of my female friends ever complained about being irritated or otherwise bothered at any given time. So if stuff you just described is happening at where you live, I can assure you it's not a global phenomenon.
I really think it's just that girls are more afraid of getting hurt dude. I don't know if groping and shit are really the issue. From my experience only the really badass chicks go in the pit and they are NOT afraid to get hit at all. Those are the only people that should be in a pit anyways. I've seen so many fights start over some girl getting hurt in the pit and making a big deal about it. We don't need that shit.
Okay social justice warrior Darcy, can you explain to me "Just because there isnt a physical barrier to women participating" when a music video was made to point out the physical barriers they face at an actual metal show. I'm sorry but your feminist rhetoric does not support equality, what it's doing is creating special snowflakes that need special attention rather than actual equality. Rodekkkonly reply to your comment covered exactly the rest of the points i wanted to cover in regards to groping and moshpits.
Small shows aren't as much of an issue as the music festivals. Lots of male predatory behavior there. Scumbags like that find it hard to get away with in smaller venues.
Yerp, my cousin stopped going to festivals because her and her friend got groped several times over the course of the day, and she's not normally one to back down from adversity. In her words, "the shit ain't worth it". She's not afraid, she's simply lost patience dealing with that garbage. It def doesn't happen (usually) at smaller shows. I've played several and while I've gotten some creepo scumfuck vibes vibes from people (including from the other guitarist in my old band, not directed at me tho thank fuck), I've never been full on groped at a smaller show. For the record, I'm not a feminist myself, and y'all saying some "it comes with the territory" bullshit can get right the fuck out. It's really telling you'd rather defend some leery-eyed shithead so you can assume someone is a feminist/SJW/whatever you want to assign to someone. No one should _expect_ to be sexually assaulted for going to a show. You're entitled to your opinion, but you're factually wrong. Also grow up and cut the fucking "special snowflake" bullshit, you sound like a fuckin' joke bud.
Them girls can throw down!! Holy fuck!! SLAYYYYY :D Nothing wrong with a woman in the pit. Anyone who thinks that's a problem.... sweetie, YOU are the problem! We all go to gig's to enjoy the band, the music, the atmosphere, and let off some steam. SEX HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!! IT CHANGES NOTHING!!!
I love this video, I'd love to see more girls in the crowd getting in to the music instead of just bobbing their head in the back because they are intimidated or don't feel like we should be in the pit.
I'm cool with it as long as you don't lose your mind if you get hurt. I've seen plenty of fights break out at shows because some girl couldn't handle a mosh pit. I've seen dudes get literally ganged up on just for hurting a girl by mistake. That's bullshit. As long as you can hang, come on in.
I'm actually a bit disappointed this is the plot of the music video for 'Nomad' instead of the song is actually written about (Jake's vacation during the summer). Would've been cool to see IHW playing 'Nomad' on top of a mountain while Jake is also climbing it.
