Wow!. This must be one of the, if not the most, impressive and well made pre-war radio manufacturing films I've seen. Didn't know Erres was so huge at the time. And then to think the brand was always in the shadow of Philips? Great to see the many proud employees, and the healthy food (andijvie, zuurkool) they were served for lunch. And that KY418, what a beauty. Also love these 3-way variable condensators :) Thanks for uploading this amazing film!
The food served for lunch was not what usually happened. Because of the bread shortage in the war, factory workers started to have trouble making lunch sandwiches they could take to work. So people went hungry. The factory jumped in, and helped out by somehow sourcing vegetables and serving hundreds of hot meals every afternoon. The first time they did that was the 1st of September 1941 according to the 'VDH Omroep' staff magazine of 11 may 1945. The food wasn't always palatable, as can be read in some magazines from during the war. But after a while complaints subsided when people got more and more hungry and any food was welcome. The same happened at the Philips factory in Eindhoven. The factory also occasionally managed to snag batches of random food and other scarce products. Sometimes you could buy fish for low prices, or onions. Also rubber rings for glass jars for preserving foods (rubber was extremely rare in the war) and the rubber nipples of baby bottles (again, rubber was impossible to come by).
Joop Schepens: Ik.
Does anyone know the brand or models of these radios that were manufactured? J.C.Oliveira SP/SP br
