As a professional caregiver, the live in care rate is $225 (it was $160 before the pandemic) for 16 hours of care, I get two days off a week, and I am available at night every four hours for toileting the patient. So….
A private live in caregiver costs 180-200 a full day, and that's half the cost he's telling everyone. Do your own research, before placing your loved ones in a nursing facility those places are horrible, especially when they're short staffed.
It does not consider the stress of having the responsibility. I cared at home and it was only me and a CNA but I never could escape care giving and it wore on my mental health. Some times a home is what a caregivers mental health needs. Don’t feel guilty if you need the space from caregiving.
My sister had Lewy Body Dementia. She had round the clock caregivers in Ridgefield, CT, for 4 years. The last 3, where at the assisted living facility, The Residence, in Darien , CT. The assisted living place, was 3700 a month, and with everything else extra, it cost about 10,000 a month. My sister had great ins, because m she was a top journalist, for NBC, in NYC. Very expensive.
Bc Canada memory care for mother is 3600 a month plus meds of 150 a month no extras on that. That gives me peace of mind and still allows me a life in my senior years.
