Marvin was for sure my favourite gospel drummer of all time. He kept an amazing and simply phenomenal pocket all through songs....and although I never knew him or saw him in person, his drumming greatly influenced ma bass and keyboard playing by teaching me to play stuff in context, since that was what Marvin always did. RIP Marvin.
What a great loss!! Marvin McQ was one of the greatest, realest drummers out there. No tricks, no show boating, no fancy stuff, just smooth, crisp, clean rhythmic sound. A style I "attempted" to adopt when I played. My prayers go up for his family. Thanks Marv for your tremendous contribution to the gospel music world! God Bless

Wow, that was bad news. It took me by surprise. It's hard to believe that so inmensely talented musicians may leave us from one day to another. I'd like to thank him for all that great music he left us...I still have so much to listen to. R.I.P. Marvin. BJorn

All I think about when I hear the name Marvin McQuitty, is Fred Hammond and Radical for Christ! I love Calvin Rodgers, but there was just something special about Marvin & Fred!!! God bless the McQuitty family and all those who are affected by this.
AS TEDDY CAMPBELL SAID AT THE END OF THIS VIDEO "MARVIN, THE MAGNIFICENT!" THAT'S WHAT HE WAS! :D HE'S NOW IN A PLACE WHERE WE ARE ALL TRYING TO GET TO, AND THAT IS HEAVEN! MAY YOU REST IN PEACE! -Curtis Alonzo Lyons Jr.
R.I.P Marvin! What a loss to the whole drumming world, and world of music in general! An extremely talented drummer, and a huge inspiration to many. How did he die though? I hadn't heard he was sick or anything..
I saw a vid via google of him giving a testimony of God healing him of Lupus that he was diagnosed with some years back. Dont know if this was what it was but man so sad
