The risk of another major confrontation between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah remains high. The Shiite movement has shown its support for Hamas since the beginning of the conflict between this group and Israel. Hamas militiamen and officials are present in Lebanon, as was the case of Saleh Al-Arouri, killed by a strike attributed to Israel in Beirut on January 2.
