ALJEZUR is a pretty little town in the ALGARVE in PORTUGAL, surrounded by the best beaches and most amazing scenery. It's not a big tourist spot, although it attracts the most ardent surfers and it is a perfect destination for those with families. There aren't any resorts or cruise ships docking, but in nearby Vale da Telha you can rent a house with pool for the summer!

Love arrifana!! Go go go!!!!! A melhor praia para mim!! Adoro!!! Amazing restaurant in the end of the stiff road until beach, expensive for natives but really really good!! Must try cindy cam'on!! A road may seem challeging but you can ask a ride down and up, no shame. Everybody do it!!

Btw quick insight about my experience with aljezur and costa vicentina (area.we call.the coastal from lisbon/setubal until algarve.). as you, lever liked the touristic spots, so every year I.would go, from my 20s until my 28s years, to the.local surf shop and get the.year car sticker. I ve added at my fuel mini door and it.rock!🤟 then, every year i would add a new sticker for that summer.year.in aljezur. Actually years later, it seems the fashion of this little ode to.aljezur stook. Amongst the youngers and surfers you ll see them all.around their cars. 😁🇵🇹❤

The reason for all the abandoned buildings is because many of the developers did not have planning permission to build in the National park.

I love Portimão and the surrounding areas although the water in that area is colder than the in Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António. Had I enough money would buy a property in Monchique mountain and every time I felt like going to the beach its just 15-20 minute drive made easier since they reworked the road downhill.

Olá Cindy. I’ve been looking forward to this one! I’ve driven through Aljezur a few times but didn’t stop and I’ve wanted to. Thank you for sharing your exploration of the area! I am like you, I don’t mind seeing some of the touristy areas but prefer the wild, raw natural beaches and cliffs and local people. Can you possibly share a link to the rental? I’d love to see where you were and put it on my list... it looks like my type of rental! Obrigada ~ Take care!!

Hello there , when I visited Portugal just a few weeks ago , what I saw there is the feeling of Apocalypse, As if people there have abandoned their lands and homes , put them for sale , and God knows where they plan to go after selling their properties , there are so many Ruines of houses left there in the fields mostly for sale , I think Portuguese due to a low income and poverty stricken country are leaving their country and immigrating to other North American or else countries , they have a low average salary there . I like the natural scenery of Portugal of course , not being the best in Europe but it is so quiet and empty of souls .
@CindyVine
@CindyVine 4 года назад
I think the young people left years ago, the old people stayed behind on the farms and have since passed on, so the properties have been abandoned.

Thanks so much for the video Cindy: you did a great job. Could you recommend the best resort in this area which has a bank, a good supermarket and outdoor cafe without the hordes and concrete of Albufeira, which I'm trying to avoid?
@CindyVine
@CindyVine 3 года назад
Hi Steve, I stayed just out of Aljezur, rented a room in a holiday house. You can even rent the whole house if you have a big family. You can find it on Booking.com Villa Arrifana (Vale de Telha). Vale de Telha has a bank, supermarket, outdoor cafe and restaurant and is in a reserve so it's not overcrowded, no holiday apartments just large houses on big plots of land. I think there is a resort in the area called Vale de Telha Resort as well, but it's not one of those endless lego apartment resorts.

Cindy, as i mentioned,I watch several other vids re Portugal farms. One of the other channels is The Indie Projects who are converting a barn to live in (not far from you i think). Now, after watching your vids and others, it seems that you cannot convert an agricutural building to habitation, but they seem to be doing it - i have questioned them twice now re this, but they dont answer. What do you think?
@CindyVine
@CindyVine 4 года назад
I also follow the Indie Projects and am watching their stone barn conversion closely to get some tips for my one. Legally it remains an agricultural structure even if it's converted. When you sell the farm you can't call it a house. The stone building on the farm I bought is registered for habitation, so when I fix it up I will be able to call it a house as it was the farmhouse over 50 years ago.
