The moment when paul dano finally speaks is heart wrenching! We've all experienced a time when our world comes crashing down around us and he perfectly captured that. Little miss sunshine is one of the best movies i've ever seen and this particular scene is easily the most memorable for me.
This film had some dark comedy but it also isn't the cliche ending you expect...I adore it for that...I hate cheesy non realistic bs endings..the family dancing and then being told to not enter their girl in pagents was real and funny and made me like like family more not less..they became a family at the end...as weird as they seem...their less broken then at the start
Color blindness doesn't mean you can't see color. It means, depending on what kind of color blindness you have, certain colors tend to look like other colors. It usually involves reds and greens.
Look up 'Cultured Bubble' as a channel. She just very recently put out a reaction to this movie. She's got a high level of emotional ability. She's pretty open and honest. I like those qualities in a person. I digress. The reaction is about 45ish minutes. I think you'll enjoy it.
Richard's logic: "Let's not talk about depression and suic*de with a 7 year old, but let's give her an eating disorder, shall we?" Also, that guy did have a kid on the show, the director of the movie was surprised when people misunderstood him for not having a kid there, he is even credited as "biker dad"
for sure. biker dad just understood how fucked up the child pageant world is and was over it. hence his excitement at Olive’s performance, somethin REAL.
Steve Carell, Greg Kinnear, Abigail Beslin , Alan Arkin, Paul Dano, Toni Collette….how could someone not love this movie. Absolutely genius writing and cinematography and cast.
This movie was a staple for my mom, my sister and I growing up. Always found it incredibly underrated. Amazing movie. Dark undertones (and in some cases not so subtle darkness) throughout with excellently executed comedy.
@Randy White I didn’t know it won an Oscar but I guess I consider it underrated because I never see it get mentioned anywhere by anyone. But I guess you’re right
Great reaction! I love this movie, always watch it when I'm sad. I always assumed the guy with ear plugs was a dad that just hated the whole thing and the 'unwritten rule' for pageant dads was that they didn't talk to each other? The alternative is a lot darker!
He redeems himself when he cheers for the family making complete sham of sexualised premise. If he was a sight seeing pedo, he would not like that. That at least confirms for me he is a macho dad who is not sure what to do with his daughter, and is forced to go along with whatever his wife says.
Ok this movie is so special to many people for different reasons!! This is considered an “indie” movie so many channels don’t even consider reacting to it . But seriously this movie is GREAT!
Richard started off as a jerk but he more than redeemed himself by not quitting on getting Olive to the pagent no matter the obstacles they faced along the way. From break down of the van, rejection of his get rich plan, death of his father and missing the sign up deadline, he wouldn’t take no as the answer.
So this was supposed to be Steve Carrells first ever on screen performance, but the release was delayed, and by the time it finally released, he was a star with 40 year Old Virgin and The Office, therefore his stardom helped this little indie get more recognition than it would have
This is a thoroughly entertaining movie. I laughed, cringed and looked shocked at times. Alan Arkin, Grandpa, made the first half of the movie nonstop laughter. Glad you guys reacted to it. Great acting all around. Thank you.
The guy who says 'first time?' is actually one of the father's who's bored senselss having to attend these shows all of the time. That's why he cheers during the show when it all goes wrong as something enteraining actually happened. He's credited as 'bored father' or something
I always wondered what the actual little pageant girls and their parents thought about participating in this movie, and the VERY OBVIOUS judgment the film has about the creepiness of child "beauty" pageants. But I guess if they're already willing to tart up their little girl and have her parade around in a bikini, all they saw was a chance to be in a movie and jumped at it. "This could be Brexxlynn's big break!"
Oh I love this movie! It's so real and honest. Thank you for reacting to that. I recommend the movie "Sunshine Cleaning", one of my favourites as well!
I thought this movie would have had much more of an indie film feel to it, but it was just darn endearing and hysterical all regardless. (And against all odds, this movie had me crushing on Toni Collette.)
If you liked this I recomend Akilah and the Bee. I'm pretty sure I only relate these movies together because I rented them from Blockbuster st the same time and camd out the same year... but they are both great movies about a little girl, her talent and her family. How did I never realize how inappropriate this movie is for kids.
yes, fantastic movie. I have suggested it before and it was in the poll once or twice. I'm definitely going to suggest it again on patreon, once my other choice made it 😘👍
You're totally incorrect about the biker guy in the audience. It seemed obvious to me that he was a bored dad (he's even listed in the credits as "biker dad"), but I guess you're not the first one to have that misconception. On the DVD commentary, the directors actually talked about how surprised they were that some people had gotten the wrong idea about that character.
This was the first time I've seen that interpretation, it's crazy. I always got bored Dad too. That's why he and the audio guy were so excited at the end. First entertaining thing they'd seen in a long time.
I mean... the cast and crew of a certain Game of Thrones episode swear up and down that it's not intended to be a rape scene. ... but the thing they performed and put on film and aired was in fact a rape scene. So...
People that are colorblind don't see the world in black-and-white. They just don't see all the colors that a normal person sees - they see limited colors. Sometimes people don't know they are colorblind until they are tested because it's what they've always known, so they don't realize they are only seeing a limited range of colors. Great reaction video!
Alan Arkin truly makes this film, for me. One of the best American actors ever. I recommend Freebie and the Bean with Arkin and James Caan, THE first buddy cop movie. It's hilarious and utterly bonkers and you'll love it.
Okay you're not watching the movie he says he's taking a vow of silence until he gets in the academy not when he goes there when he gets in when he gets accepted
Not sure if you've ever seen the show, but I highly recommend the pagent episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (season 7, epsiode 3). You don't have to watch the whole show, you can just jump in and start there. That epsiode is freaking hilarious and talks about some of the stuff yall brought up during the pagent section
@19:14 I'm with you Sir. These things are just creepy as f---k. No way I would let my kid be dressed up like a doll like that. Has to be a pedo magnet. That said.... I love this movie. You go grandad.
It was only bad with what happened with the uncle because it was his student. The gender wasn't what mattered. Although maybe it wasn't bad because it was college and they were consenting adults right?
Absolutely love this movie, saw it in theatres when it came out. Has a lot more heartbreaking and heartWARMING moments than most movies squeeze into one movie. So happy to see someone react to it
Ngl I was disappointed in the dance performance the first time I saw this because it was built up so much throughout the movie but in the context of the movie it makes perfect sense and is a tribute to the grandpa 😜
Got a sub from me with this hidden gem, and I never remember to subscribe. You'd also like Perks Of Being A Wallflower, another criminally overlooked should-be classic with great soundtrack and equally good writing/dialogue.
The social commentary on the little girl beauty pageants always makes me laugh. It's a weird past time. I'd like to live in a society where it no longer exists. It's just fucking odd. Yet some people want a guy who loves them to be a leader...ew. I digress now. My B.
Jimmy, I like you. Sorry you got the biker dad completely wrong but that's your generation. I am going to subscribe! Abigail Breslin, 5 yrs old, superb in M. Night Shymalan's Signs with Mel Gibson/Joaquin Phoenix...try that one!
Was the biker guy at the pageant really supposed to be a pedo? I always read him as a disinterested baby daddy who hates this shit but attends begrudingly to support his daughter. And he cheered at the end bc they disrupted the the whole thing, like it was punk rock.
no, he was a biker dad, dragged to so many pageants, bored with the whole thing...his attitude when Frank asked him the question was...first time? I'm sorry for you, guy! just wait...today 's generation can't see anything withot suspicion and distrust.
I have issues with this movie. I'll be blunt and just say it like it is. I have it on good authority, that chomos and sex offenders really love this movie. With that knowledge, whenever I watch it, I can't help but think about how many old creepy monsters, have cranked one out while watching that movie, especially the pageant scene.. 🤢. I can't watch it without that in the back of my mind and it ruins it for me. Which is sad cus I can see the comedy in it, and I love the stars, but.. yah, I just can't..
@@laurelg9586 whatever. i guess u can whatch Dr Disrespects content after knowing the sick shit he's done too, rite? or how many old men cranked one out to zoey 101 and etc? i guess that means it's still okay to "enjoy" the content.... whatever. enjoy ur copium..
This film on its budget of 7 million won Oscars. It won Oscars against Scorsese's The Departed. With its Nicholson and Damon and DiCaprio and it's 250 million budget. Talk about a story for the little ones punching up against the heavy weights.
