I'm so embarrassed. Here I am a 63 year old man getting a lump in his throat and tears in his eyes. I will never forget anyone who was in the Waltons. A wonderful, wonderful series that will live in my heart forever.
Who else is still watching the Waltons in 2019? I am!, I saw it as a kid when it was new and its still new every time I watch it. Probably my favorite show of all time.
Looking back the Walton's world seemed smaller and more compact and yet so real to life. They took time to live life with family. They sailed their ship using a moral compass to guide them with honesty, integrity, fairness, hard work and sense of community. Am watching the series for the third time. I think some of the family remaining around my age. Maybe that's why I enjoy and can relate. Well done....Paul French
It's 2022 and THIS is still MY Favorite Show. Even with all my degrees, I learn so much from these characters and EVERYTHING else in THIS Show. No wonder it still dominates the TV scene to today. Great Lessons about LIFE vs LIFESTYLES. 🙂Peace
@@zairaali2733 that's awesome to see you learned alot from this programme. I grew up on this during the 1980s. Best TV programmes and the best music. Oh those were the days. Stay safe.
@@ValHemi265 I am referring to Family Values. In today's society, I strongly believe in PARENTS being FIRST Teachers by introducing Rules of Etiquette for starters, as Respect automatically follows. Charity does begin at home. :-) Peace
I wish today was like The Waltons because you had God and family and them two combination that was all you needed back in those days. be honest we need that right now in our days. God bless whoever reads this
Yep. Same here bro. I wish the same as well. Back then we spoke to each other. Wrote letters and waited weeks for replies. No social media. The best years man. And yes today the world could do with some Waltons.
i love the Waltons, there is no show like it. The show displayed so many good values you wont see in any of the tv programs anymore... and I love Mr. Godsy
Even the smallest details in the scripts had significance if you paid close attention. Alot of things went over my head the first 2 or 3 times watching the seasons
What a great character he played. He is forever immortalized as part of the cast of a show that championed honesty and integrity - traits that are sadly lacking in our society today. Rest In Peace Ike - you will be greatly missed.
When you consider the shows like The Waltons, Little House On The Praire, shows that taught us family values you realize why the world was different then. When you conseder what is on Tv now death, horror and crime, that teach us nothing, you realze why the world is like it is today. Sad.
So very touching and magnificently done!! I am almost in tears. I was so sad to hear of Jon Conley's passing. Ike and Cora were priceless. They added so much depth to the show. Loved 'The Waltons' to bits as a million others did. Wake up Hollywood!! If you made more shows like this society would be much happier.
I am so glad I watched every episode of The Waltons when new. I had just started 6th grade when the first season premiered. I watched it until the final ep No show on TV today can even come close.
Love Ike. I grew up in the 70's...was same age as Elizabeth. Watched every single episode for 9 years and now I'm watching them all over again on The Hallmark Channel. Wish our country was still the way they portrayed it and even like it was in the 70's. We have lost so much innocence in life. God, keep our eyes to you. Keep us simple and kind.
Some of the fondest memories from my own childhood were going to the local corner grocery store. The grocer and his wife were a lot like Ike and Corabeth and became so dear to us that they were like family. God bless Joe Conley he will be missed.
He reminded of my Grandfather. He and his cousin Joe ran a nice grocery store. My grandfather had personality plus. Rest in peace Joe Conley. Rest in peace Papa.
@@Moose803 I think the wife was just out of place for an area like that and she wanted to feel educated and normal to her, if that makes sense. He always had money out of pocket to buy that watch or anything else really. I agree with you that he was the only grocery store in town.
Next to my Nana's house was Sam's store. There was no gas sold, but inside was so similar. A candy shelf, some canned goods, and fresh fruits and veggies. Great memories🦋🦋🎈🎈♥️♥️☺️☺️☺️
The Waltons was one of those rare shows from the past,we will never see the likes of again.Thankfully episodes are still being broadcasted and we can watch the special stories, acted by a wonderful cast.
I was in the 9 the grade when it started and watched every one of them and yes now watching the show on Hallmark today's tv is nothing but pure garbage ,I salute them all !!!
This old life seems all we do is loose the people that touched our lives in so many ways You my childhood TV friend will be missed by all who watched and loved your sprit for life and laughter Thanks for the video
It's funny to me. On one episode of the Waltons (I forget which one) Ike Godsey explained to the Waltons Crew or someone about the future of food markets and how they will operate. "It will be where people will go in the store and pick out their stuff on their own and then pay for it all later." Ike would say. As in the Grocery field myself to a certain degree, I always got a kick out of that, haha. Ike Godsey was truly a visionary! :)) God Bless you Joe Conley!!
I didn't get to watch the show a lot when it was first one because I was in my 20's and working hard. But I liked and now I watch the re-runs and never get tired of them. They remind me of a time when people treated each other better and wish it were more like that today. We all live for technology now and it seems their lives portrayed living on Walton's Mountain had a lot more than technology can ever give you. REAL LIFE.... I love watching the re-runs. What a casting they did for that show. Just remarkable.
I live in Buffalo, New York where Joe Conley grew up. I happened to be at a flea market over the weekend and picked up South Park High School yearbooks 1942-1945. Inside I found a newspaper clipping the owner placed about a 40th reunion of the Class of 1945. (The article was published in 1985). It was entitled, "Reunion turns up a familiar face." The article talks about Joe Conley coming to Buffalo to attend. It was held at Fontana's Picnic Grove. I opened the 1945 yearbook to glance at the seniors, and there he was - Joseph H. Conley, Jr. For a $10 purchase, it was a great surprise. That's how I came across this tribute which was very well put together. Thank you. RIP Mr. Conley. Incidentally, his classmates had a nickname for him in High School -"Hollywood Joe." Who knew?
The Walton's portrayed a much gentler and much missed way of life. I didn't watch it until my late 40's and it was just a little bit before my time! How I would have loved to grow up and lived in that era. I couldn't miss the material things I have now because I wouldn't have known about them! Would that have been a bad thing? I really don't think so. In many ways, I would have had much, much more.
I did grow up in that time; and only about 40 miles from (Walton's Mountain). It was a great time in our country, especially in small towns, where everyone knew everyone else. Back then your word was your bond; honesty and integrity was the normal!
Did you not see how much time Mom and Grandma spent everyday cooking cleaning doing laundry by hand. Dad and Grandpa had it a little easier cutting wood all day but at least they had family
I. ENJOYED. THE WHOLE. ENTIRE SHOW. THEY REMIND. OF ALL OF US HAVING DINNER AROUND THE. DINNER TABLE. I MISS MY PARENTS VERY MUCH TOO AS WELL. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️.
Man, Jon Conley was absolutely perfectly cast. The feeling, that simple rural heart-as-good-as gold, he brought that, what he contributed to the series was immense. Thank you!
Walton’s was a great series especially when the first three to four years it was on .The Walton’s Christmas show with Patricia Neal was the very first one I watched in 1970
@@garrieleepeck8753 The sad thing is it doesn't have to be that way, we can change it. If we all be the very best we can be, everyday no matter how we may feel. Kind to one another, even to those who dont really deserve us to be kind to. It may just rub off. Or might start them to thinking, gee that gal was nice, maybe I should be nice too. My father said you can catch more bees with honey than vinegar , so true. I know if I'm in kind of a bad mood, and I met someone who has a smile and treats me kind. It changes my whole attitude. We all just need to try a little harder smile a little more, love a little more. And we can change the world. Let's do it ! It will catch on like a forest fire. Go out and see. There might be those who wont respond to us right away but keep working on them they will come around ;?
Like Godsy was my favorite character of The Waltons as were all the characters. Rest In Peace to the characters of the show that have passed on and also to the actors.
Having The Walton's in my life made me a humble person as I grew up. I looked at the family as someone I wanted to be a part of. This was a blessing to see. Thank you to the Walton's.
I grew up watching these shows I never miss this show when It came on tv every time it came on tv thank God for DVD s I want to tank the person who made DVD s and these beautiful time Classics movies
My wife and I still watch The Waltons every weekday on MeTV at 11am central time. I know every single episode by heart and it's still the best thing on TV.
The Waltons was and still is a wonderful show! It portrayed so many beautiful qualities that today's world seems to have lost. They portrayed such loving, devoted, hard working people. Rest in peace, Ike Godsey!
I always thought that I was watching a true family on television once a week when it came on. Never looked at them as cast members, only true family members. If Hollywood wants to, they can bring back the cast, the cast that were kids back then now as adults today. "The Waltons Siblings".
I enjoyed watching the Waltons . I learned about this show through my mom. She use to watch it everyday and I just sat on her bed and started watching it with her. Love it
He reminds me of Mr Isley...of Isleys Grocery..long closed ..but was the only store my mother shopped at...She'd pay her Bill when my Daddy's social security check would come in...evwry month...knew all six of us kids by name...and went to the same church...Mr Isley was the most in a man you could ask for...our penny candy was always free...he'd never charge us...and taught us kids to share with others and always pray for happiness...that it will happen...never Hope...but pray. may you rest high on that mountain Mr. Ike....and Mr. Isley
I am 52 to 2019 coming to end and New Year's Eve I am just watching some old parts tears are coming down my face saying goodbye to these beautiful cast 1 by 1 I've gone Never Forgotten
I met him in a gym in Westlake Village , California . He was trying to get a knee stronger. Such a friendly man. I never let him know I knew who he was. Kind fellow, down to earth and just wanted to talk.
I am a 59 year old man and I love love love The Waltons! I watch it every time it’s on which is a lot! Watching this dear old man who had been a part of my youth brings a tear to my eye. I’m happy to be here today but oh how I long for the past! ❤️
I still watch The Walton's everyday. It reminds me so much of my younger years, I was the youngest of 10. Even in John & Olivia, every once in a while I can catch a little glimpse of something my parents used to say or do or even see where some of the traditions we had came from. If you are sitting with me you will probably, more times than not, see a tear in my eye.
I love this man always have. He reminded me so much of my own grandfather growing up. Sadly my grandfather died when I was 13, so just watching the show it was like bringing my grandfather home in my livingroom for a little while.
Amazing Just Love him and The Waltons always has the Warmest place in my Heart would have Loved to belong to that family. Thank you so much Joe Conley RIP. You did so well!~♥
I remember watching The Walton’s as a kid. Loved it. Now I’m 52 and watching all 9 seasons on Amazon prime. I watch almost every night with my 12 year old daughter. We are currently on season 5. ( about 24 episodes per year. That’s alot of Waltons). What I find kind of funny is that most episodes bring tears to my eyes at some point. Grandma and grandpa Walton make me want to sob sometimes. I’m the man of our home but I’m always crying but my daughter is not! Best show ever. I wish they would clean up what they’re putting on tv these days. I thank God that we have these videos to watch over and over with our own family 🙂
One episode that showcased Corabeth`s redeeming side very well was the one where her car broke down and Ben fixed it, the dialogue really exposed her vulnerability, the reasons for her "annoying side" and taught me to have greater understanding and patience with people, not to judge a book by its cover.
I love this show, always have sice i was a little girl. It's so simple and beautiful. It's about FAMILY when there are no shows left about family. I also am a writer so I related to John Boy's character the most. :)
I love the Walton’s , I bought the whole set watch them every winter when not on tv ,love love love Ike he was so wonderful in his part in his corner store he will be missed.
Always was and is still is the best show on television. Looked forward to it every week. It still brings tears to my eyes. So many memories of my own family I associate through this period and show. I wish someone in Hollywood understood the value and interest people have in this type of programming. All their interested in today is either scaring you to death or completely grossing you out with one death scene after another.
THE WALTONS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME TIME IN OUR MINDS AND HEARTS, IM 65 I HAVE EVERY EPISODE RECORDED I WATCH THE WALTONS ALL DAY EVERYDAY ,IT KEEPS ME IN A TIME AND PLACE I WANT TO BE FOREVER❤️
RIP sir and thank you. I found this while looking up Waltons stuff since pa Walton himself Ralph Waite passed away today :(..SO SAD. I grew up on this being born in 69. I love this show and the people in it.
My all time favorite show. Although I loved all of the characters on this show, Ike Godsey was one of my favorites. What a special man; and a special man that played him. I loved how loyal he was to his friendships; how much everyone meant to him; and I loved his relationship with Cora Beth. Thank you, Mr Conley for the gift you've given me that will last a lifetime.
I'm 51 years old, grew up with the Walton's, my favorite show EVER! Still watch it today. LOVED Ike, I think he helped make the show what it was... Goodnight Mr. Godsey.
I was eleven years old in 1973, when the Waltons was shown. I am proud to have watched this great show on Monday nights without missing an episode and as like the characters, Ben and Jim-Bob mirrored the teenage years.
Through all the peoople leaving through out the show, Mr Godsey held true & kept the show feeling holesome & family. He was a wonderful actor. In the begining Grandpa & Grandpa made the show. His death & her stroke was devastating 2 the show. 'John boy' got 2 big on himself & his career never went anywhere. Mr Godsey held the show 2gether through the entire show. I still watch it 2day.
Wow that made me so so Homesick. I was 12 when I watched the Waltons now I'm 59, I think back and cherish those times. That's why I bought every episode plus the reunions on DVD yep Thursday night Beretta was on then The Waltons then kung fu and then Starsky and Hutch that was Thursday night in the 70s 🙂
Thanks for your comment. You and I are the same age. I was wondering how old I was when I watched it with my family. Later, my parents divorced which makes sense why I can't recall the final very moving wartime episodes I now watch on antenna tv.
After watching this for awhile, it's really sad to see that most of them are deceased right now ‼️ to see them age was awesome. But know that I can watch them everyday is totally cool. ✝️🛐☮️💟💜🙏❤️I think it's very befitting for them to say goodnight to all who has passed on, since that's what the Walton's said every night to each other ‼️.
That was a lovely tribute to Ike Godsey!! RIP Joe Conley. And thank you for all the many times in the past and present when we were able to go back to simpler times. Cry a little. laugh a little. And strive to bring more grace and dignity to this time we live in.
The Pilot and the Series MEANT SO MUCH TO ME, as well as SO MANY OTHERS. I wish I could have grown up in my Grandparents Era. Thank you " The Waltons "
I used to watch this show with my mother when I was growing up and I try to catch the reruns now a days. When ever the show is on - I feel like that young girl again and I feel like I have just spent time with my mother who has been in heaven now for 26 years !!!! I never want the show to end !!!
