i love how everyone just decided to take George sleeping over major events as a character trait because *I mean haha we just need more angst*

when you're a day early and George is a day late

I honestly love that most of George's lore takes place in his dreams; I think that it's an interesting approach and that it makes a lot of sense, considering his character's penchant for sleeping as much as he does... But well, who could ever blame George for staying asleep, when he, in his dreams, can live through old memories and brighter days that reality can't provide him with? It's a world where he can be with his friends, where it's all games and mindless fun, no heavy burdens to weight them down... And where Dream is still with them, with him, to share a laugh or two. It's the Dream that George remembers from before all the wars, the old him, the one that still cared about friendships, and about people; It's the man that once promised him the world, now back at his side, after all of the terrible nightmares of real life. But sometimes, it seems like reality flickers, even in George's dreams, and suddenly, he isn't with Dream anymore, but someone, or rather, something else. In front of him appears the "Protector", the server god, DreamXD. DreamXD seems awefully interested in becoming George's friend, and in order to do so, he can make himself look and sound like Dream. DreamXD is a master at pretending to be him, and let's be honest, we don't know in how many dreams he's secretly taken Dream's place before George even knew about his existence. And yet... this song reminded me of something of importance, you know. "I would rather be with you, there's no one else for me." The person that George is missing is Dream, and DreamXD can never be him. The server god can take on Dream's appearance, borrow his voice and yet... Well, no matter what he does, no matter how hard he tries to become George's closest friend, he's not the real him, he cannot replace Dream. The two of them clearly have different expectations of their relationship, and there will come a time where DreamXD realizes that he can't have George. Because should DreamXD try to impersonate Dream in his dreams, George will inevitably find out about it and be angry at him; Heck, even if DreamXD should always reveal himself as who he is, there's gonna be a point in which George will get mad and push him away, judging by his response to DreamXD's "pranks" during their last encounter. And now, imagine what DreamXD's reaction will be if he gets rejected by the one mortal that he cares about. There's no way he's just going to walk away and accept it; No, he's going to look for someone to blame and punish. And let's be real here, there are three possible targets that could be hit by his wrath: It's either the man who insulted him by turning him away (George), the one who, in DreamXD's eyes, made the man turn away (Dream), or the world that allowed for this to happen in the first place. Now, we can, of course, not know whether or not this scenario becomes reality and how big the repercussions of DreamXD's revenge would be. All I'm saying is that everybody keeps speculating that one of the mortal villains might be the one to bring an end to the server, when the real danger might be lurking in George's sweet dreams.

Honestly I’m impressed about how we managed to include George, the person who sleeps through all the important events, into lore this deep and downcast. But seriously though, this song is amazing.

Because if George sleeps so much he DREAMS a lot as well...

shit, okay I felt so much of this, okay? There's so much headcanons I have of George's character that was amazingly put out here!!! okay, "My partner, my friend," I felt hesitance. I felt George hesitate before switching to just friend. "I would rather sleep." Does this hit hard after everything? Yeah. George in the SMP runs away from his problems, peaceful. He'd rather pretend things weren't the way it was. "I'd rather not wake up without you here with me." Okay, That hits really hard. We all have that one person, no matter how evil they were to the world, they've never ever betrayed you. You know they wouldn't. They'd hesitate. And then there's George and Dream. And then there's the part where it described how things were, lying in the grass and looking in the skies. And that really just got, "In my dreams, I got you back. In my dreams, my life is on track, And I keep looking back to-" it describes how much George was silently attached to Dream. So much, so so much. After the recent George lore stream where "dream released out of prison", that really just bashes me in the head. You've made it so beautifully that I teared up, really did. Keep up the good work, PJA!! looking forward to more of your work! (And hope you don't mind using snippets of lyrics here to make a short ao3 story w/ credits

This is one of the few songs that could make me cry. It’s not just the lore that made this song, it’s the sort of story you can get from the song itself. Like someone who lost a friend and isn’t quiet out of the sorrow of the seperation. It hits to close to home.

Last year I wasn't in a very good place mentally. This song helped me get through it due to this song perfectly describing how I felt. I return every now and then as a reminder to keep going, and that I'll be okay.

The harmonies- I can't get over the harmonies hhhhhhhhhhhhh But I love the concept of George's lore happening in my streams and I really would write sth about it if I didn't have like six WIPs crying in my drive *shoves them into a corner* but anyway I find the lines particularly like,,, smart.
