Hi all... just as a comparison, here is what real Level III body armor will handle: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--qxgVax-It4.html ...by Alaskan Ballistics ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HZ7yRMa52kI.html ...by Buffman - R.A.N.G.E.
Great video. I agree based on your results it shouldn't be advertised as level III, and is ineffective in a rifle defense situation as you demonstrated. However, I think it has merit in a home defense pistol scenario. Most people don't realize that a 9mm will pretty much penetrate any common object in a house. This shield would seem better than nothing when investigating what went bump in the night.
Thank you for taking the time to perform this length review and taking the time to edit and post it. I was looking at these plates this morning, and it's a no-go.
Glad it was helpful! I am shocked that eBay is still allowing this on their platform... we notified them years ago, and provided their fraud dept with all the evidence.
From the update I saw that the product is on Amazon and say they're level II that stops 9mm and 45 acp. So not the most protection however if it stopped that 10mm then it definitely proved it's worth which isn't much but if you're on a budget and need something in a pinch this looks pretty good.
Yeah I look these up they say level 3A Plus that it's rated for handguns not rifles so apparently they changed their listing but it's not a bad price 80 bucks for handgun Shield! Most people don't have $400 for rifle Shield so i think this has a market as a affordable 3A sheild.
Yeah... they changed their posting after we contacted them and eBay. That said, I would not use these for any kind of protection. Please see the entire video before you trust your life to this product. It is not made by people that know what they are doing. The handles are welded on [not bolted on as they should be] and the welds cracked and snapped off after less than 10 hits. The plates also had deep pitting from handgun rounds meaning they are just cheap mild steel. You can get a full-sized IDPA AR500 1/4" steel target for ~$150 and make your own shield... or you can get the 2/3 scale IDPA versions if you want smaller, lighter and cheaper.
That is great news. Still, the handles popped off after just 4 rounds of 10mm at 50yards. Handles should be bolted on with grade 8 bolts... not braised.
I ordered one on impulse because I fence with sword and buckler so the idea of a bullet buckler to use with my revolvers appeals to me. I think mine was rated at IIIa for pistols. I may, however, want to upgrade to something better fairly quickly.
Tell your friend to file an FTC complaint. It is illegal to advertise anything as "whatever-proof" without specifying the details, i.e. bullet caliber and distance. And wire fraud, for claiming it is AR500 alloy. BIG fines all around. Papa spank!
@@Ddslmo There are no election irregularities, just games that both parties know about and both play. Read Tip Oneil's excellent book "Speaker of the House" to get some idea of those games. But the FTC? Has no political risk in fining a company like this.
So it won't stop rifle rounds. Though for home defense I think this will come in handy. I don't expect burglars to come at me with anything more than 9mm
Unfortunately, eBay does not seem to care. But try selling a threaded barrel on there and you will disappear faster than Jeffrey Epstein in federal custody.
Test the 6mm with 10mm defense range ..kinda simple when real 3 armor is much thicker(mm wise)ask T Scorpion...Great Quality company by the way...I still want 2 more of this prod though..hard version of soft body armor dont need mention what a double tap or weakening armor is...Glad they corrected the description....Greatest video for life
I never buy anything from Ebay if it relates to keeping me alive. used videogame controller's, and other low value elctronics are okay in my book (not used hard drives!)
It's unfortunate when we see these types of things. There are actually good armor sellers on there... like CATI... they make a legitimate, tested plate... but you have to make sure you only buy from the actual manufacturer's profile... otherwise, who knows what you will get.
It was clearly labeled level 3 as shown in the video. They later changed it to 3a after seeing this evidence. They obviously never bothered to do any testing. Even 3a is questionable. Did you dee how the handles popped off from just a paltry 10mm Auto? 3a should handle a 44 Magnum or a 12ga shotgun.
I did which is frightening it's definitely not level 3 and i dont know about 3a either tbh it's more like level 2 for small hand guns, I'm reallyyyy happy I came across your videoooo I just purchased one of these sheilds last week glad to see I shouldn't put my faith into it
I can't feel too bad for people who buy stuff like this. I mean seriously, some very basic research on the front end would prevent someone from making such a purchase. Start off by looking at the shields or other products from known legitimate or established suppliers. In this case, Armored Republic itself offers that kind of shield for close to $1,000. Common sense should tell you that there's no way a $100 knockoff could be legit. That meant that whoever made it in China spent maybe $40 on material. You can't even get the material to build the real shield for that much, let alone the engineering, assembly, quality control and certification etc that the real product has. There's just no realistic way you're going to get an equivalent product for one-tenth the cost of the real one. About all this shield is good for, maybe, is to give to your kids to use for snowball fights.
