thanks so much for uploading. thanks goodness for 'old' style documentaries. ponderous, informative, conversational, relaxed. Just right. no agenda other that knowledge and no slam bam noises, fast cut aways and wotnot :) michael woods, the best.

This is one of his best series. There's detail on the Dark Age kings I've never heard anywhere else. So glad someone has copies and has uploaded them, there probably isn't another copy anywhere.

I always find it quite interesting that in these early days Michael Wood donned a suit and tie when the programme visits a library, or a University for example...sign of social change in the UK, perhaps, after almost 40 years as much as any change in Michael Wood.

I'm glad to see that you re-synced the video, as the original fell out of sync rather badly. However, why has the aspect ratio changed? The source was authentic 4x3, however this video is narrower, closer to being almost square.
