Been riding over 44 years, had over 40 bikes, never keeping them very long, until I bought my brand new Interceptor, just as covid hit in 2020. She is due an mot this month. She is the first bike I have kept hold of, which is indeed an accolade as to how Royal Enfield make you feel. Strangely enough though, since buying my Classic 350 in July 2022, I have ridden her more. Such a joy. Nice ride over the moors, and yes, it’s all fighting for.
I have been riding bikes for 53 years from 175 Hondas to 1200 BMWs but since buying my green Classic 350 last April have stopped trying to find the perfect bike. Reason being this Classic 350 is for me the perfect bike, just puts a smile on your face on every ride.
The music, scenery and commentary are sublime. I am in my 60s and have recently discovered that tootling along on a smaller powered bike which sounds nice is extremely therapeutic. You get time to appreciate your senses and surroundings. Its a very visceral vlog thankyou. My second bike is a honda sh300 scooter and I find myself using it all the time over my car or motorcycle. It’s on par or a little more than ur bike but is happiest 55-60 as well as me when I am on it. Never been to Yorkshire but I will be
@@thebingleywheeler hi, I retired from same job as you and bought an xmax250 as a treat from my 125 Hondas i commuted on for 30+ years. I put 77k on my last honda 125 innova. Exposed to elements chain off every 3 months soak in diesel to stop it rusting. When I retired after trying an xmax in Spain, I bought a 250 to commute to my 2 part time jobs. Revelation no chain, belt change 12k, keeps feet and legs dry and most of my body. I used to ride 365 but now packed in altogether at 64. I rode the xmax to Spain and back twice. The belt change, variator weights and clutch clean are all within reach of diy. Only negative is smaller wheels, you feel the potholes, overbanding and drains. My honda anf had tubed wheels = regular punctures but xmax like mcycle tyres only smaller. Currently own sh300i they both cruise 65 + about 70 mpg but I find myself gunning them as the twist and go sensation is lovely. Never replace a motorcycle but as a commuter, extremely comfortable and capable. Try one I think u will like. I am considering swapping the sh300 for a RE 350 though😂but bet I don’t as have vstrom 650 which wasn’t on my radar but I abs love it. The scooters are nice pillions too but I live alone and kids gone now so not applicable now. The other point is helmet storage. I think the xmax is better for everything apart from performance. My xmax was an 07 and had about 24bhp but twist and go away from lights up to 50 its more than capable against most cars and some motorcycles. I don’t think there’s anything not to like about them and for older people they are step thru u don’t have to cock a leg😬. A downside is the price new. Believe it or not I paid £1000 for my xmax as seller said was seized😹😹. Took a van and two helpers to lift into the van. Got there scoot solid but jump started it. Gentleman was a director of first direct bank in Leeds. I keep quiet as he had no knowledge so I removed calipers front and back and drove it up the ramp. Should have seen his face. Absolute steal kept for 8 years and sold it for £1800. So second is way to go
The 300 max has much better forks than 250. Full length like a bike. They are brill. Lent me a 250max when guzzi was in shop. I just loved it and bought a 300.
Quite enjoyed your whimsical ramblings. You can put a philosophical spot in all your films for me. Yes life has changed in so many ways since we were youngsters but a trip out to the Yorkshire Dales or the Forest of Bowland is like a trip back to the past. That is one reason why I go there so much. Thanks.
You and I have had crossed words in the past over a minor difference of opinions, this video brought to my attention how petty such things are in the grand scale of things. I'm here to apologise, not only that but to commend you for this poignant, passionate, evocative video bringing with it a sense of imminence. You had a clear and valid point to make regarding what's real and what's not. More importantly a warning about how plans are in place to take this reality from us. Those who seek to deny us have been preparing us for decades to accept Virtual reality. Whether we walk, cycle, drive or ride to find solace in such places, the benefits to our physical and mental well-being are invaluable. This is without doubt one of singular most important messages of our time. Very well presented and narrated with perfectly chosen locations and accompanying music. Let the fight begin 💪👊✌️
Thank you and no need for an apology….it was just an example of healthy debate and if I recall correctly we arrived at a consensus of sorts. You’re right we might as well be living in a simulation they way that truly important things fail to resonate anymore and a lazy brained population drugged on easy credit and “unreality TV” can no longer find the strength to ask the important questions or the backbone to challenge the blindingly obvious injustices being visited upon them by a cynical and psychopathic elite
Excellent video, points and quotes well made! Elemental is the word I would use to describe the place you took us today. Places like this give us comfort in knowing that long after we are gone, they will remain - maybe lending us a little immortality.
A very deeply thought out video my friend, and a dose of reality and realism, it reminds me of the maxim 'four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul' great touching video especially for we Yorkshire men
Hello my English friend- I really enjoyed this beautiful video. The countryside was gorgeous. I couldn't get over the amount of stones & labor/time that it had to take in building the fences ( around the 10:00 minute mark) in your video. Your bike looks & sounded really nice. It was music to my ears. I really felt you when you were talking about finding your niche with motorcycles as I have done the same throughout my many years of driving & purchasing bikes. I'm kind of stuck in a time warp called the past so I'm not one who likes all of the new /latest technology. I have a 1999 M.G. Bassa, a 2007 M.G. Vintage & was recently thinking to purchase a R. Enfield. However, my heart fell in love with a new Kawasaki W800. I also felt you when talking philosophically when reading from the book. Some times you have to get around our age to appreciate the smaller details in life. Have a beautiful day!!! Illinois, USA
Thank you Larry for those kind words which are really appreciated. There’s something about the landscape around these parts which gets under the skin….great to hear from Illinois 👍🏻
New Subscriber here...Glad I've found your channel. I totally share your comments & thoughts on Motorcycling. I'm getting very drawn to the Royal Enfield bikes, your 350 Classic as you say is more than enough for those country roads, nice relaxed ride & time to look around our beautiful country. Royal Enfield dealers are really nice people btw Manhatton in Sheffield & Lmt in Louth. Ps great music & editing...
Brilliant mate , great and timeless words, down here in the land of Oz, the breathtaking scenery and the country, our home. My grandfather would say it can touch all your senses, with its foreverness, as we in these times become captured in the material and the breathless and chaotic lives and forget the actual simple wonders of what exists around us. Indeed, it is worth fighting for it belongs to us and our children as a gift, and the enormity of the sacrifice to preserve it cannot be lost, to the the perfidy of the State. Timeless landscape and an awesome ride, thanks for sharing mate, Cheers.
Thank you John yes we tend to forget our true origins “of dust were ye made and dust ye shall be” the people are sovereign and the land can never be “owned”
You just get better and better my friend. The channel, as you shape it with your mindset & personality, is becoming more and more pleasing. Great bike, great landscape and great perspective check. Thank you. Christian.
Thank you for another wonderful video. I agree that the high moorland in this country is humbling in its beauty along with the mountains of Scotland, Wales and the Lakes. There are many who would despoiler our landscape for profit and deny our enjoyment of such places. There are plenty of examples of what the rich and powerful have done in the past, the evil Highland clearances for example. Please keep making this sort of content as well as your excellent motorcycle reviews. Best wishes.
Thank you Stephen I really appreciate that. The land is ours….all of it and the “ownership” of vast square miles of it by virtue of inherited rights should be ignored to my mind
Beautiful ride again and simply lovely scenery across from me in your part of Yorkshire Great Bike and love the enfields A very moving video and look at life and peace and quiet makes you think about things Love it 😍 Best regards
Great video, really enjoyed the countryside and feel of it all. Just bought an Interceptor and love it, can't wait to get on some great rides out like this one. I'm also from Yorkshire so also a bit biased but what a beautiful county. Thanks again
Aw mate grounding to right ,when ive been away on holiday i cant wait to get back to huddersfield to get grounded cheers ps these 350s keep you grounded also
I’ve just found your channel and subscribed. I have two points of contact with you. I ride a 350 Classic and I’m attracted to philosophy. What you said when you were leaning on your bike was very thoughtful. Thank you.
Stunning mate, great perspectives. I love middleham and masham, such a fantastic part of the world. Maybe nip in the Black Bull for a pint of lunatic broth! Funny how you get time to tune in to what matters when your out for a ride, another great video! Great stuff
Great run out there TBW awesome views and what you say is so true and my goodness I am very loose and tatty these days 😁I am sure things are happening . Change is afoot and not for the better it's strange that one hears thing's like these 15 minute city affairs like in Oxford which seem to disappear does this mean it's gone or is it under table being set up , you get the ending of petrol/diesel vehicles and then nothing happens to facilitate this fairytale , it obviously won't because it is impossible with no infrastructure in place and I do not see it in the next decade leave alone 5/6 years . 👌👍.
I agree entirely….you can guarantee that things will always be happening under the table whilst the heat dies down and then before you know it’s upon us
Brilliant love that area and the Dale's in general also love that peace of background music on this video be interested to know the title!!! I also have exactly the same RE 350 classic in the green colour which is a favourite of mine to poodle a round the country side . Always love your Yorkshire Dale's videos
Hey up, can’t disagree with your observations. It’s always a good leveller to visit an isolated spot and realise just how unimportant you are. I learned that many years ago being full of the woes of the world. Then visiting a special spot and realising that i could be struck down there and then and everything just carries on as if you never existed. That said Dave, those crash bars could only be loved by their mother 😁😁😁
Absolutely pal….either the world carries on once you are struck down or it never existed anyway….in a strange sense they both amount to the same thing….as for those bars….definitely function over form! 👍🏻
There are material things that separate us from the real world and others that open the door to reality. As for what we need, if it can't be carried on a motorcycle, it's just extra.
I’ve noticed that when you meet the A59 you usually take a right than quick left. As an alternative you can go straight across which will take you on a narrow but very quiet and scenic alternative. It comes out just short of Greenhow but with the chance to take a right or two to deviate. A remember a year or two ago whilst cycling on that road seeing a RE 500 coming towards me kitted out in a WW11 style and thinking how it looked at home on that tranquil road which could have been mistaken for the 1940’s.
Stunning part of the world just can’t beat nature to get you back to your core, time to rise and stand up for a great deal is at stake and ignorance is no longer an excuse
That's the truth brother! Life becomes more clear and yes painful as we get up there... Seeing what's happening in the world is truly troubling. All I ask is to be left alone. Gov't has no right to do anything more than protect our borders, care for those in need, and keep the infrastructure in good shape. Stay out of our lives. I want these last years to be as enjoyable as possible. None of these politically correct, virtue-signaling elitists interest me in their games. Fight is right mate. Lovely video, with a hint of sadness. I feel ya. But keep fighting the good fight. From the far left place on the other side of the pond... Ride Safe 🙏🏼
I’m loving my 350 (chrome/bronze ,named Gloria ) ) now with 2100 kms (1300 miles ) on the clock and it just laughs at the mountain 😅 here where I now live in southern Austria , it’s getting better every time out ! , I have 15 other bikes ,mainly old classic Hondas and Suzukis , and have owned more than 160 bikes and the classic 350 is up there with one of the best , my interceptor 650 hasn’t had much use this year The war on the motorist/ motorcyclist is in full swing in Europe , the good news is , the globalists are losing Great video , keep up the great work , and check out youtuber Richard Vobes for some interesting takes on what’s going on in the world Stay strong people, we’ve got this !
this is fast becoming my favorite channel ,; i thought it was only uncle stu f and me that thought the populus were slipping into a nasty abyss under the control of the fake do - gooders and green idiots ;; we may have to fight this , which sounds and is daft , but i do not like being lied to ,, the amount of time and damage caused by the modern GREEN fuels and non effectual wood preservers e.t.c. is a sad joke . and the uk is a laughing stock telling planners that houses cannot have woodburners installed , the rest of the planet could not give a shite ;;; but on the plus side - without your indian made bike and chinese gear it would be a long walk to see these views , if ever without modern means , which brings us back to ----- we want to be able too ;;
Indeed Simon it’s all about the denial of choice designed to lower aspirations over years and thereby cement the divide of inequality. Thank you for your kind words
