Fascinating. I had always wondered about nine maidens. My parents live in West Cornwall and there are two stone circles with that name. One at Penzance and one at Helston. I didn't realise it was so common.

I want to say y'all are lucky to have ancient sites to visit. Very little is "old" here. My Mom told me that they had lived in the Ozark Mountains forever, and that may be. Her tribe, like most, left no records, so who knows. Take care. I really enjoy watching y'all's videos.

Yo Pete, are you going to continue with Anglo-Saxon documentaries videos? Seems you been getting away from that. We would love so,e more stuff on the old north, early Northumbria (Edwin era) and please please please please it would be awesome if you did a video about the smaller Anglo Saxon kingdoms outside the heptarchy, like Lindsey, Hwicce, Maegan Sadie and all. Thanks King Pete, may we serve our grand history king and let him live long and prosperous. These videos are absolutely amazing also. But I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have enjoyed the other ones.

Interesting to note, Arbor Low is situated where nine ley lines meet. Of such significance, the crown saw fit to place energy blocks on each ley line to stop the flow into the circle. these have recently been energy cleared using crystal to allow the flow back in. Be nice to have the grid fully operative again :-)

Many cultures around the world have stories about groups of nine women. In Great Britain they occur in a variety of situations. In Scotland there are references to Nine Maidens, purportedly a group of,[clarification needed][1] and there were a number of wells dedicated to them,[2] but like all similar groupings would appear to have had their origin in pre-Christian times. In Arthurian material, the best known of these groups are the Nine sorceresses, Morgan and her sisters who live on the Isle of Avalon and are both seeresses and healers.[3] Another group occur in the Welsh tale of Peredur son of Efrawg, and these are the armed witches of Caer Lyow.[4] Also in Welsh mythology, we have nine maidens who tend the fire below the Cauldron of the "Chief of Annwn"; this cauldron is the target of Arthur’s raid on the Underworld in Taliesin’s famous poem Preiddeu Annwfn.

I love your videos Pete.. seriously, you have a great talent for scripting them and you do a fantastic job with all the work that they take.. if I lived over there, I’d be traipsing all over the place to haunt the magnificent history you’re gifted with.. there’s absolutely nothing remotely comparable for hundreds of miles in any direction from me.. and where I am in New England, the “pilgrims and settlers” were notorious for erasing any bits of Native history they came across and they cut down the ENTIRE ancient woodlands for about a thousand miles 🙄😤 sigh.. if you’re interested in PRE history in the US, there’s not much to be had on the East coast.. thanks so much for sharing your videos with us, they’re just excellent!! We have a local site near me called Ringstone Hill in Brierley near Pontefract/Barnsley. Also couple of miles south east of there they found an ancient settlement while building a housing estate in South Kirkby. They assumed it was Saxon and the estate was thus called Saxon Way. It only consumed part of the site, rest is now protected and i believe further research found that its actually a late bronze age settlement. The original Kirkby was lost to time, wiped off the map, i believe due to their association with the siege of Pontefract castle during the 2nd civil war, but might have been earlier? Harrowing, Vikings, Romans?

In my country, i.e. Poland, northern part we have stone circles atributed to Goth settlers. And some of them have the same legend - about stoneturned dancing people. One if them, Babi Dol near Zukowo, is commonly known as Stone Wedding.

The Rollrght stones fascinate me being an older site than Stonehenge with several stories/legends attached to it, the location is interesting perhaps the boundary between the beaker people at Stonehenge and the native Britons, would be interesting to see the construction of the sides compared and the archaeology found to see if they are the same people at both sites. There is an obvious line of sites (mostly long barrows) from the river seven just past Bristol ending in Chipping Norton and the Rollrights that make me wonder if that was a boundary marked out with the ancestors ending at the stone tombs at the Rollrights and a stone circle perhaps to honour a leader/spiritual figure. It's obviously very different to Stonehenge and Avebury.

While small and not well known there are few monuments of this kind in western Switzerland. They are of course preceltic monuments. Interestingly enough they are found in the region of the celtic tribe of the Helvetians. Is it right that those kind of relicts are always found in regions that were later on home to celtic people? I was always incredibly fascinated by celtic culture, music and legends. A genetic test revealed that my origin is 70% of celtic origin from Ireland and Britain. Less than10% from central Europe. The rest of my genes are mainly from southeastern Europe. Amazingly enough my family lives here in Switzerland for at least 8 centuries. Sometimes I think my ancestors fled from Britain when the last Romans left and the Anglosaxons settled there. I start believing that the genetic background of a person has an effect on his interest and feeelings.

Fine modern day audio/visual storytelling Pete. though the modern day fantasy super heroes captured in cinema, film and even music are but mere marketed celebrity cartoons, like looney tune pop culture icons, contemporary legends in their own minds, created, scripted , rehearsed and held dear by fanfare as tribute paid by screen and speaker bound voyeurs, void of any enduring fabric or meddle that holds the memory of real legends steadfast through the long test of time.
