"In search of the Man" - How I think Islam possibly began (ELF-FOCL)

About a year ago I gave a workshop at the European Leadership Forum (ELF) on what I believed were the factors behind the emergence of Islam in the 7th century, employing only historical critical analysis to do so. That workshop was uploaded onto the ELF RU-vid site (FOCL) just 2 months ago, and already over 116,000 people have viewed it, pushing it up to the 5th most viewed video on the FOCL channel. Why would so many people watch a 2.5 hour lecture on such a boring historical subject, unless they found it important, or controversial...most probably it is the latter.
The ELF is about to convene once again this week, so I thought it appropriate to upload that workshop on to my Pfanderfilms site as well, not only because it has proven to be so popular, but because this is the very subject we are discussing here on this site.
So, I asked permission to do so from FOCL, and they willingly agreed. This then is the 2.5 hour video concerning what I believe happened in the 7th century which created what we now know today as Islam.
It is a long video, so go get some coffee, then sit back and put your feet up, and see if what I say in this workshop matches what you already know transpired historically in that part of the world, and at that time.
When you have finished, I would be interested to know whether you likewise agree or not.

And the bible is in my short amateur research The Bible is not one book it is 66 books written over about 1400 years by 40 or more authors. The old testament is before Jesus became Man, It consists of, creation, world and jewish history, prophecy, wisdom, literature, etc. the New Testament starts with the gospels, which is Jesus coming to earth, four different accounts of Jesus‘s life and death and resurrection. Two are from eye witnesses matthew(levi the tax collector) and john(the apostle, the beloved disciple, etc.), One was written by Mark, who got his information from Peter, an eyewitness. Another was written by Luke, who was a companion of eyewitnesses, and it seems he interviewed many eyewitnesses to compile his gospel. In the gospels Jesus fulfilled the MANY of the O.T. Prophecies. The New Testament also tells of history from the early church, letters to early churches and people that can help in many ways one of which is helping Christians with their walk w Christ today. It also contains revelation which is any times prophecy that was revealed to John. Different versions of the Bible. most of the time, any reliable Bible version or translation is not a completely different Bible for an example One version of the Bible might say “Jesus said to His disciples” another version might say “Christ said to His disciples” and yet another “Jesus Christ said to His followers” this is just an example, but that’s typically what is really meant by Bible variants. The scripture we have today is very reliable, historically even from a non-Christian scholars point of you and if you want to talk about that we can I’ve done a little research the gospels were confirmed by many official early church members who were linked to the apostles by chain usually knowing someone who knows them. Examples of a few. Only one person seperates John the apostle/gospel writter to Irenaeus(ploycarp). Theres tertullian of carthage, clement of alexandria, justin martyr There are no rival claims of authorship either. Meaning there’s no other people who say they wrote any of the Gospels or other people, claiming someone else wrote them. Mark and Luke are minor characters who were not eyewitnesses, but got their sources from witnesses. In the second, and later centuries, people made fake heretical gospels that were said to be written by important characters, such as Thomas and Mary Magdalene. If the gospels according to mark and luke werent wriiten by Mark and Luke, why would they attribute them to these two people instead of attributing them to an apostle, or an important character in the gospels. The authors didnt want fame or praise and People in the first century knew who wrote these documents without each author having to sign their name The evidence we have for the Bible specifically the gospels is better than most secular historical events. We have no first or second-hand records of Alexander the great, but i’ve never heard anyone dispute his existence, who he was, or what he did. People are extremely bias when it comes to the Bible and I get it because of the miraculous nature, but God proves himself through every time seek, and you will find do the research searching for truth and you will find it

Most apostates left Islam not only because of him, but for multiple other reasons like doubts, contradictions in Quran & aHadith, disagreements with Muhammad's teachings, restrictions hindering their career ambitions, etc.

@@smokiebad Old Testament says that no man is righteous in many places, psalm 14:1-3 being the most prominent. The Christ was to fulfill the law of Moses. The law was indicating someone to fulfil it, like how God creating the land in the 3rd day was signifying someone to fulfil it(i.e, man). If no man is righteous, and the Christ/messiah is meant to be absolutely righteous and sinlessly perfect, fulfilling the law to the dash. The Christ therefore must have the, absolutely sinless, divine nature of God. This is why John in his 1st epistle calls everyone who rejects Jesus’ Sonship to God- he calls them the ANTICHRIST 1 john 2:22-23 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? Listen all place of worship has hidden treasure and artefact. Not only India. It's nothing to do with the temples. People need to be educated. The Vatican has so much treasure no one even knows. It's hidden in vaults. It's the government duty of each country to see to their country. And men must see to their families. Don't wait for dowries or someone else to take care. You will be punished for talking about Hindu scriptures and deities in a negative manner. Now some temples may have to part with the the gold that belongs to the gods themselves. That is a slippery slope. It is just as easy to challenge the authenticity of Chrisitanity. Read a bit from scholars such as Richard Carrier and Robert Price (lots of stuff on RU-vid). Better to leave the Muslims, Mormons, JWs and so on alone. I believe that the righteous from all walks of life enter the kingdom of heaven (as my Jewish friend says).

Most of the history was investigated by Jesuits in the 19 the century. All of the dating for Buddah is based off the pillars of Ashoka. The word Buddah in Sanskrit simply means awakened or become aware. There is nothing on the pillars about the story of Buddah, simply the word Buddah. The manuscripts about the person we know as Buddah are written at least 800 years after his existence. So he is said to be from around 580 to 480 BC and yet no manuscripts until 180 to 200 Ad? There are very few BC claimed Buddhist temples in archeological research and all of them have nothing Buddhist in them? You see there is no telling because they claim Buddhist icons, but they are also the same as the Hindu Krishna images, like for example the bodi tree and a god man sitting under it.

Except he's a Naga (serpent-person) with a "vimana" (flying saucer) who flew down to Earth to give people "enlightenment" ... aka a "light bringer". I just listened/watched through all of this. I have a Geography degree, I was tops in my class on the Middle East (and we had a lot of Saudi’s in the class thinking it would be an easy grade for them, but I blew the curve on them). I also am saturated in history. The big question is, what caused the sudden cohesion of the Arabs that they could suddenly come together, defeat two great empires, and stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indus River and then cross into Spain and defeat the Chinese at the battle of Talas (in 732, also the year of the battle of Tours if I remember it all correctly). The traditional account never made sense geographically as the distances were all too great, but it made sense in terms of creating Arab cohesion and a rapidly growing “pyramid” organizational structure. The Ghassanids and Lakhmids represent two Arab tribes at the time adjacent to Byzantium and Sassanian Persia, respectively and were perhaps developed enough to fight in a sophisticated fashion. But what brought them together? Historians say the prolonged history of warfare between Byzantium and Sassanians weakened both, certainly it would their treasuries. But also important was the presence of plague in the 6th century which would have reduced the demographics of the metropolitan empires much more than the Bedouins in the desert - it would also explain why children born in towns were let out bedouins in their infancy to avoid infant deaths. So the balance of power would have shifted some, if not completely, to the Arabs, but still their is the question of cohesion to their movement. Something had to happen. The traditional/classical account explains this better - and its a hole in Dr Smith’s theory. So the traditional account explains the history better but the geography is absurd. Dr. Smith’s account explains the geography better but the history part has loose ends. However, he’s convinced me that his account is much closer to the truth than the traditional/classical account. Finally I’m not sure if it will make much difference in terms of what people believe, at least in the current and near future time frame. People’s decision making as to religion, politics, (and dare I say it, the designated hitter rule) are made in the emotional sphere of their minds and that rarely changes and if and when it does, only very slowly - muslims most assuredly suffer from Stockholm syndrome due to external pressure from family and communities and so they just give in. Still I think, over the next century and a half, Islam will wither away just like Soviet style Communism did (people just turned their back on it and walked away). But I’m not a Muslim, so who knows? Maybe by the grace of God all of this will come together and everyone will just walk away from it in the next few years. I can certainly see that happening in Iran, where most of the people have come to hate Islam because of the oppressive rule under a so-called “Islamic republic” - especially since Islam is really a kind of form of Arabian cultural imperialism that looks down on the Iranians even though their identity emerged over a thousand years before the Arabs, and they were perhaps the first society to have a non-pagan religion thanks to Zoroaster and the religion he started. Personally, I just turned 60 and the era I grew up in was much better and brighter than the present. I would love to watch the history of the future emerge but it faces some daunting challenges with the concentration of wealth in the United States perverting America’s political system and possibly bringing it to an end very soon, then there’s climate change which concentrated wealth prefers to ignore while the planet heats up. Then there is this current problem with Islam. We get on the other side of these challenges and things will certainly get much, much better.

The battle of Tours was fought by mainly Christian North African Berbers, not Arab Muslims as the traditional account makes you believe. Its not a coincidence that the Land Of the Vandals (Andalucia), who were Arian Christians that denied that divinity of Christ, proved such fertile soil for Islam in the coming centurries. But the takeover of Spain was a Christian squabble and had little to do with th arab expansion. As for that expansion, they were filling a vacumn. They never defeated the Byzantines, the Byzantines left a century earlier, after 624, as the archeology shows. Ditto the destroyed Persian empire. The Arabs were there, always had been. They were already the border guards and front line soldiers. When the caesar left, they made themselves the caesae.

Islam means submission to the will of God. Adam submitted to the will of God. So, Islam started way back to the first human being. So did Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Noah, Solomon, David, Moses, Jesus and the final prophet Muhammad pbuh; they all submitted to the will of One God. Islam all the way and Quran 3:19 says the true religion with God is Islam.

FYI the quran is guidance from god which is in the foreknowledge of god; the past, present and future. Irrrepective of when the quran is revealed, it is flawless and inerrant as it is the verbatim word of god (authored by god Himself).

The development of an Arab nation state is Not the same as the development of Islam. You are confusing two different yet related histories. What came to be known as the Ummayad Empire (named for the clan associated with the first four caliphates) was built as a process proceeding from the political efforts of Mohammed's successors. Islam as an Ibrahamic tradition does not include hadiths, sunnah, a standardized Quran, sharia law or governmental administration. All of these were added after Mohammed died. Now if you want to discuss Islam as an Ibrahamic tradition, fine. Or if you want to discuss the evolution of Arab state-building, fine. But please stop bouncing back and forth as though they are the same thing.

A haircut ! The accepted narrative of the origins of islam too, needs a trimming. We have not just the absence of early texts referring to Makkah and Muhammad, but the presence of the coins. Added to that, the research on the location of the kibla. I wonder what muslims will make of these pieces of the puzzle. "Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established". That is the law! Christ affirmed it when when asked for his witnesses, by answering "I testify of myself, and he who sent me also testifies of me". The requirement for witnesses begs the question of how it is that the Islamic prophet can be a stand alone prophet overruling all other prophets in the event of conflict or disagreement. After-all, a just god must needs keep his own law, and it is a part of Sharjah Law.

Thank you, Dr Smith, for doing what you do. I believe that Christians of this generation will be the first ones to see the mass salvation of Muslims as they turn to Lord Jesus. This is, in part, due to what you and your team is doing. My question for you is this. Wouldn't the Old Testament be subjected to the same criticisms as the Islamic literature, given that the earliest OT manuscripts in existence date to the 2nd century BC - 1st century AD (e.g. Dead Sea Scrolls)? Many of the historical events recorded happened centuries, or even millennium before these manuscripts were written (e.g Abrahamic stories, events of the Exodus, the Davidic stories). Once again, thanks for sharing all this information on the historicity of Islam.

Andrew, we do not have 1st century manuscripts of the New Testament. We have a huge array of manuscripts from across the centuries that can be intellectually traced back to the 1st century for New Testament documents. For the Old Testament we can trace the writing back to before the Captivity, although the actual manuscripts aren't that old. There is no substantial evidence of Abraham or Moses or Elijah. The books we have may not be that old. We use other methods to affirm the Old Testament. Archaeology, comparative histories, prophecies, etc. But in the end, the Old Testament is a history of a people, not a person, so the problem with the Quran and the success of the gospel accounts just isn't something the Old Testament needs to pass.

So I'd heard about the Mecca/Petra and qibla controversies but the history of radical islam and the general distinctions between the Quran and the Hadiths and such had been somewhat confusing to me. Thanks so much for your scholarly work and your ministry!

@@paintspirationsunlimited Country north of India-Bhutan and Nepal are Buddhist and Hindu, China(Tibet) is Buddhist(although officially atheist). Central Asian countries are Muslim these days. But he is clear that he meant North India only as he stayed there

Listen people. Only Jesus is the way to salvation. There is no guarantee in other faith, only Christian. There are many refute about Christian belief but they can't find any proof. Start reading the Bible. What was prophesised in the Bible about almost everthing is already happening.Tq Dr Jay for revealing all the truth. You and Mr Dan Gibson video. The same thing happened with Homer's ILIAD. He wrote it as a literary work 400 years after the events of "TROJ" but it was converted as true history by the academic world by attributing it to Greece at the same time that Greece as a name dates back to the 19th century.

A curious thought which occurred to me during the section about Mecca. I wonder whether the aggressiveness of Muslim regarding questioning of their narrative is similar to the aggressiveness of woke cancel culture; a cover-up. Not allowed to question, because they require you to believe the newest talking point. Thinking is discouraged. Believe or be killed; or lose your job, or be bankrupted, etc. Same basic impulse. The tool of the tyrant.

The recent discoveries, summed up by Edouard-Marie Gallez, show that at the origine of islam you have the judaeo-nazarenian cult. Settled in Syria, they convinced some recently christianized Arab tribes of Syria (among them the Qurayshites, Mohammed tribe), that they were the descendants of Abraham like the Jews. They should conquer Jerusalem, rebuild the Temple, so Jesus can come back and establish the kingdom of God on Earth. The Arabs took Jerusalem, the Judaeo-Nazarenians built a temple... but nothing happened. Understanding they had be cheated, the Arab conquerors massacred the Judeao-Nazarenians, and then the civil wars began between the Arabs. To justify their power, the Califs created a new religion so they can rule in the name of God. From the Judeao-Nazarenian’s books of prayers, they wrote the Coran. They even invent a new town, Mecca (which didn’t exist in Mohammed’s tome), to make their religion more ‘Arab’.

I have a master's degree in electronic quality systems design, so many of the words that just roll off your tongue in your common speaking are completely foreign to me and to many others. I have been studying Islam and the Koran for many years, but the terms that you utilize are from India ( I assume) and so please unpack them (define them ) for us, thanks QED Keep up the great works that you are doing world wide. All that learning and knowledge, his strict objectivity on Islam that counts for nothing because of his religious bias. It's no wonder that Muslims react violently to his lectures and views despite the truth in the conclusions. Naughty man. Reading and writing was looked down on by Arab aristocrats right into the 1950s.
