I do not own the copyright to this song. This song is by Jonatha Brooke from her LIVE album released in February 1999. Comment and Like if you enjoyed her beauiful voice. I hope I did it justice.
She really captures the meaning of this song in the way she performs it. She sings it from the heart. My dad's 4th anniversary of his passing from Alzheimer's was yesterday - this brought tears again. I used to play it on my dulcimer many years ago. Thank you for putting this up for us!
this is the most touching song i've ever heard. i heard it in a movie i was watching i can't remember the name. this song helped me understand my mother's death in 2008 i was lost my mother was all i had i did'nt want to see another day. i looked up this title and found it under the singer who made her version bring everything to light. my mother was sick, no longer herself with serender in her eyes growing weaker as getting older will cause. she remembered her children she had mild dementia. the words of the song to my understanding means at some point a loved one must go and sleep in peace because of being weary and health, quality of life is no more. in a shell of a body is a life ready to be free. thank you so very much for sharing this
I still sing this with my mother at times to this day. Each time, it is just as powerful as the first. I love this song so much, and thank you for posting it.
This was sung in a movie by the same name. It was made in 1997 on HBO, directed by the late Christopher Reeve and starred Glenn Close as a mother who welcomes her only son home to watch him pass away from AIDS. A stunningly haunting 1- hour film. You can watch it on RU-vid.
