They did musical boot camp??!! Ahhh, I remember my musical boot camps in high school- going away for several days & just knocking our musicals out of the park- they are the BEST memories I have of high school!
@@Triclopes well my son is too little to know Lin Manuel Miranda but I teach him who is and how's the creator and all. He idolize him so thats what he's the piraguero for Halloween..the most important part for him. He sings every song!! 🎵
Aside from my abuela CANDA, my maternal grandma, I wasn't fortunate enough to have met any of my other grandparents. So I wanna send a big and warm shout out to all my abuelas in my neighborhood when I was growing up in Puerto Rico. Ppl who nourished me and pampered me and spoiled me with their love and attentions. All my love to: DOÑA JUDITH DOÑA CLOTA DOÑA PANCHI DOÑA JULIA
I love all the commentary, but I do wish that there were more cuts to shots from the movie. For example, when the DP was talking about Abuela's apartment, it would have been nice to see what she was talking about. Or when the costume designer was talking about using patterns/solids to define characters and their emotions, I would have loved to see how that played out in the movie.
You have no idea I relate so much to this movie I've seen it a million times and every time I still get goosebumps I've grown up going to Washington Heights because I have so much family and to see film like this inspires me to keep going after my dream
When I was living in NYC I used to visit this beauty salon in Washington Heights, near the 182 train station I believe it was, in which this gorgeous looking DOMINICANA used to cut my hair every month. She used to wash my hair herself even though there were some other ladies there whose job was to precisely wash customer's hair. She used to do it herself and for me it was like going to therapy. I would feel so relaxed and she would do everything with so much care that I would've stayed there all day if necessary just listening to her beautiful voice and admiring and contemplating her beautiful face. Had I not been married at the time I would've proposed to her. She was my CARLA my DANIELA and my CUCA. Wherever you are Mary, lots of blessings to you, beautiful.
I love that when Anthony Romos is talking about Billy Bigalo and how no one would ever cast him (when In the Heights was playing) fast forward a decade and you have a black man absolutely killing it.
And Welsh in Wales and Gaelic in Ireland (and hundreds more, I am sure). I cannot fathom the arrogance of people who think they have the right to stamp out a culture.
