Yep, it's a Radial Engine

They are all supercharged, but some have different props, exhaust setups, and sometimes power settings.

They use the smoke to help with picking up the aircraft so they are easier to see. With that many aircraft it can get a bit hectic.

Smoke is a great visual for the audience and helps add to the organized chaos.

Unfortunately these aren't real zeros. They're modified T-6 Texans. But there are two (I believe) real zeros flying in the US. One is based in Chino, California, and I got to see it fly live in Houston. That thing is AMAZING!! These Texans are a pretty good approximation, but if you think this is good, you'll cream your pants seeing a real zero live 😁

They are the very same. I just got back from the CAF Wing Staff conference in Dallas this past weekend and talked to two of the current Tora pilots. I asked, and they said yes, these are the very same aircraft used in the filming.

No, there are precious few of those. These are replicas manufactured from T-6 Texans and BT-13 Valiants to be used in the movie Tora Tora Tora

I love your Icon man, awesome job too I F#$KIN HATE CANCER! Murdered my dad. I was with Army Aviation Heritage Foundation for a few yrs and did a lot of Pyro stuff. The view is outstanding from the Pyro box (That's the area marked off on the map by the A.T.F. and can't nobody tell you to move it not even the President) Carful what you ask for though as that is one hell of a lot of work. Those Pyro guys do not get the props they deserve. But you really do get the best seat in the house. Had many an aircraft zip by fast and low. The pilot with the biggest balls I've ever seen is Julie Clark. That lady of 60 at the time flew past me about 20ft away, I looked her level in the eyes, Man I was sitting down on a plastic milk crate! Her prop couldn't have been more than 2ft off the ground. Later that nite at the hotel I bought her a drink and told her I was in awe of her mad skills. If you haven't seen her fly look'er up on here.

Warren Chambers I'm very sorry to hear about your dad and thank you. I'm sure it's hard work but I'm sure it's all worth it. I've seen July. Clark a few times and love seeing her fly every time. Such a beautiful performance. Wish I still seen her around now
