Mick is working on my project right now. The tracks have come alive and sound completely different than the analog tapes he pulled from. He is the master.
I love the way you talked about the frequency in the female voice getting out of perspective. I like that term because it still is respectful to the singer while clearly illustrating the issue to be addressed. Thanks for that.
I would love to just hang with this guy for a day!!!! A true professional and over all seems like the real deal and so humble!!!! Inspiration!!! Thank you!!!
Yup, mixed some of my favorite records, and seems like such a humble and nice guy. To think he mixed EW&F, DaftPunk and my fav. Yellowjackets-like a river. Somewhat of a hero to me.
We need this kind of great people to stay working in music for a long time! Please do a small healthy diet and workout just a little bit! I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything. And it's nothing to do with look. He gets breathless just for talking... It's concern! If it's some kind of health problem, then I deeply apologize for my comment
I'm a pre-Fusion guy, though I went thru 3 Rhodes during the '70s along with Wurlitzer, RMI, Yamaha analog. Then the DX7 came along followed by Kurzwei (I'm on my 7th). I do a jazz show (narration plus recorded music) at the station, which has the big board, sliders and Adobe Audition. I'm trying to simulate/replicate a show like it from home. Sound Studio, a one-track program, may be too limited. But perhaps Audacity would be a better choice than Audition for home use. I just want to be able to go from mic to music and back without a major reboot or breakdown. Also, a few voiceovers would be nice (I can hear 12 tenor players and easily identify each one. Most people these days don't listen to instrumental music, let alone jazz--so I feel compelled to intrude with the mic.)--- Haven't heard much about Mangione lately. In the late 70s and early 80s (maybe later) he was using a drummer who played in our disco band in Kenosha, WI. His name was Joey Bonadio (his father, Frank, was also a drummer--who played with home town tenor hero Spike Robinson, when he returned in the late '90s for a single session.
Nice. Think these HardwareDays are over or what? Yesterday I was hit by some low voltage while I reparing my VEB EQ... damn. That will never happen with with my PC - I hope so. Like the vids where these old guys just talk about their work - very cool.
Amazing: Mick says: It takes longer to mix records because we have too many choices, too many tracks, and no decisions have been made..So, we have these new wonder editing and recording tools, but it has not saved us time...Hummmm
